Sheryl Sandberg on getting hired at Facebook

It’s crazy. I bet 90% of companies think specific experience is the key to hiring. They’ll only hire someone that’s done the exact same role before. They want to minimize time and effort in training them. Then some companies thing long-term and look for highly skilled people that’ll be able to adapt to however the business changes.

Uh, Sheryl, don’t you mean youth???

Try not to listen too much to these successful people and companies. Most of them don’t mean what they say. Quite often don’t do what they say.

Is she referring to managerial skills or SWEs? Pretty hard and time consuming to adapt hard skills to business changes. A lot easier for soft skills.

Cynically, sfdragonfly could be right.

OMG, Christmas came early…sort of!!!

I set my age to 120 on Google–don’t want anyone knowing my real age.

But for some reason they’re not showing me solely Apria Health care ads anymore… Wonder what happened.
