Singapore Is That Good

Bay Area weather is the bomb. The Tropics is for beach vacations. Otherwise it’s tedious and never ending heat and humidity. Two weeks even in a tropical paradise and I am ready to leave.

.

That’s perfectly fine, I don’t want or need any additional competition on condos with full sea views anyway.

Hmm, maybe Singapore is not that good (LOL)

Ipsos-PR-The-Singapore-Report-Card(1).pdf

In Singapore, a typical complaint is the fast pace of life that is synonymous with city living, and another being the relatively limited opportunities to explore niche careers such as those in arts and music.

Singapore is too small for an outstanding career in arts and music. Should go to bigger nations like USA, India, China, Japan and Korea.

Singapore is a dictatorship. Democracy there is just a pony show. So far it has been lucky that their leaders are competent and clean. But all it takes is just one bad guy getting the lever of power and the whole thing will go to shit.

Chinese has a saying. Wealth in a family won’t last beyond the 3rd generation. LKY is first gen. The founding father of Singapore. His son is the current PM. Any of his kids have political ambitions? The 3rd gen will kill the golden goose.

.

Cursing the Lee family?

Are you thinking voting is rigged like a certain neighboring nation or a certain big nation?

If one political party never loses an election you can be sure the democracy there is fake. Don’t need to look any further.

Singapore doesn’t have independent judiciary neither. How often does the government lose in courts?

.

Singaporeans trust PAP. Period. Singaporeans trust Singapore government. Period.

Voting is compulsory, everybody vote. So the government is not elected by a small group, is by the people.

Just like a king’s subjects “trust” their king.

Nothing wrong with the fact that Singapore is a fake democracy. I get the feeling Singaporeans aren’t even that keen on democracy. They just want a strong man to take care of them.

Not my cup of tea. Perfectly fine for people who like that way of governance.

.

King is not elected by the people. Not a good analogy.

Even though…

Look like you prefer a government that is voted in by a small group and using certain kind of voting machines.

You don’t want this?

Democracy is more than the act of voting. Putin was also voted to be president. Just that the guys who ran against him always seem to have unfortunate accidents happen to them.

Singapore is similar but more subtle. Anyone who criticizes Lee always seem to have legal problems happen to them. Oh it’s also highly accidental that SG government wins 100% of its cases in court.

I don’t know why you try to convince people SG is a democracy. Aren’t you a fan of China’s CCP rule? I get the impression you aren’t a fan of democracy to begin with.

.

Which Lee? Actually you can criticize with facts  not slander.

“Facts” as defined by judges appointed by the government, in courts where the government always wins its cases.

Any difference from…

Supreme Court justices, court of appeals judges, and district court judges are nominated by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate, as stated in the Constitution.

Btw, you have an odd definition of facts.

Frankly, I don’t know why you like to talk politics. All I want is to live. What kind of governance system, I really don’t care.

That’s why I look at how often governments lose in their own courts. In the US, governments lose all the time. It doesn’t even surprise people.

How often does the Singapore government lose in Singapore courts?

I have to repeat my self. SMH.

In Singapore, Singaporeans trust the government. Hardly any suits against government.

In USA, Americans don’t trust the government. They celebrate suing and won against the government.

When Singaporeans are unhappy over certain government policies or a certain politician behavior, we feedback constructively, we don’t riot and sue.

Here, more evidence of Chinese Nationals wanting to go to Singapore.

Yes, Singapore is great (no doubt) but sometimes a party, even a great one, can get out of hand if too many people crash. My wife hates how (some) Chinese Nationals can be…rude and pushy…

Like I have said before, I just want the spillover… (across the border, in some laid back beach front area, while my retirement money works for me…)

What about Thailand instead?

Nope, MO of course, but infrastructure is not as good, guns are allowed there, English is not as widely spoken and healthcare access is not on par. Besides, my inlaws are in Malaysia…
