The bull market of '82 to 2000 took the Dow from under 1000 to 11,000. Time the market at your own risk. Most people lose money trying.
BTW you can always overweight internationals. Dividend yields on VEU and VWO are 2.5-2.7% and valuations are lower. SPY yields about 1.8%. And those international funds give you a nice surprise at tax time. The real yield is closer to 3% - and you get to write off the foreign taxes which were deducted.
That has been my justification as well. Many U.S. companies earn profits all over the world but that doesnāt mean there arenāt other opportunities out there. Iām just talking. Iāll probably get lazy and stick with what I have
True but American domiciled companies are trading at higher PEās and have lower yields than most of the rest of the world. Also, the dollar has been very strong the last few years. That could well change. Currency translations will magnify any foreign gains if/when the dollar pulls back.
They arenāt all Seattle HQ companies, but they all have a significant presence in Seattle.
Amazon is below t-mobile for 2019 return. Rumor is Amazon is laying off full teams. It used to be there was a 90-day window where employees could look for another role internally. There were enough open roles that almost everyone found a role unless they were a low performer. My old team got restructured and people were laid off. The same amount of work needs done, so now itāll fall on fewer people to do it. The worst part is stock grants have been super stingy the last couple of years because of the performance. Smile about doing more work for less pay
