Great! screw the middle class and collect our rents!!!

He is a troll, but i keep feeling the urge to respond

My proposal is serious. You can make American cities dense like Asia and Europe so that most people don’t drive. All the car related cost can be saved to build more housing. Isn’t this a sensible reallocation of resources and a better solution for most people?

Elimination of property tax will lower the rent so everyone will benefit. It’s better to provide more housing than more cars. Is this even debatable?

It’s such an obvious thing but many people are overly fixated on the status quo.

My porposal is modeled after Singapore and Hong Kong which are favorite cities on this forum. Low car ownership and high homeownership. Since homeownership is a much better investment than car ownership, my proposal will benefit Americans tremendously. There is no better policy than this.

We can train the laid off auto workers to be construciton workers and tradesman for new home construction and repairs, or public transit workers.

It’s a huge waste to have everyone own a car. It’s much better to have people own a home than a car.

Hong kong is a favorite city in this forum because of demographics.

There is american way of life, it is different. I didnt come to this land to be packed with other people.

Also you dont need to wait longer, autonomous driving will transform many aspect of cities, but you will still have low density situation.

Tax the cars, and there will be a huge market for used cars, or maybe kit cars, or sormthing.

Cars are integrated into american life unlike any other country. It is also freedom to go anywhere on a whim. It is taking your kids to school. It will get better with self driving but wont go away completely.

Feel free to tax cars above 100k. Wont fix a single thing.

Property tax is a bad tax that creates homelessness unnecessarily. Prop 13 limited some of the bad effects of the property tax, but it’s not enough. Elimination of property tax will help the middle class and lower class tremendously, it’ll lower rent, it’ll lower homeownership cost, it’ll encourage higher homeownership. We are spending so much resources on combating homelessness with very disappointing results. The best solution to homeless is to eliminate property tax and eliminate NIMBY with millennial YIMBY.

Elimination of property tax will reduce homeless and improve homebuyer and homeowner confidence of being able to keep their home.

Self driving cars is a good development to eliminate or drastically reduce car ownership. I welcome its arrival.

Tax should be based on income and consumption. Homeownership, especially home consumption, is distributed very well and there is no need for property tax. Renters benefit from property tax elimination through lower rent from supply and demand equalization. It’s a stupid policy to use property tax to create homelessness and then use tax dollars to ineffectively pretend to solve homeslessness problems.

We don’t have sales tax for food to reduce hunger. Similarly we should also eliminate property tax to reduce homeless.

How are you guys?
Me? I went for a long, long vacation!

I returned home, and at the airport I had to praise the supreme leader or I would have ended up detained for being an enemy of the state.

I just hope the “PC bunch”, you know, those complaining of liberals not allowing anybody to “tell it as it is” don’t start with their commie attitude of censoring what I say.:wink::wink::wink:

How is the situation over there? Housing hot? Lots of jobs?

Over here, we are thinking of selling pretty soon. I am making lots of money so I can afford to move to Atherton.

So, another round of handouts? We are becoming a Socialist country.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

What? No communist republicans answering my questions? Oh boy!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

So can we put to bed the idea that Trump is a good negotiator. Everything he touched turns out to be all marketing and no depth and a marginal or bad deal. Here’s the take on the Mexico deal:

Nothing really changed from current NAFTA rules. And we spent 6 months disrupting trade, causing chaos, increased costs and made the US look like a non trustworthy partner.
