And then there is this.

Pelosi is racist as well, some Congresswomen said. Is Pelosi a racist?

If we check carefully, many people are borderline racist on the surface. We don’t know what’s beneath the surface.

Racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over another. It may also include prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone because they are of a different race or ethnicity, or the belief that members of different races or ethnicities should be treated differently.[1][2][3] Modern variants are often based in social perceptions of biological differences between peoples. These can take the form of social actions, practices or beliefs, or political systems that consider different races to be ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other, based on presumed shared inheritable traits, abilities, or qualities.[2][4][5]

That’s not the definition being used to label people as racist.

If you read the definition, then affirmative action and college admission quotas are racist. They literally exist because people are saying certain races can’t compete on level ground and need an advantage. That can only be true if you believe a race is inferior. It’s also treating people differently based on race.

Democrats are racist for being against voter ID laws. Their whole premise is minorities can’t get a valid ID the way white people can so it’ll suppress minority votes. That’s literally the definition of racism to think a race is incapable of something another race can easily do.

Democrats said they want to keep the spotlight on the issues that got them elected, not a fight with the President.

“The President’s words and actions speak for themselves. We need to focus on the issues that got (Democrats) here: jobs, health care … instead of the issues the President brings up deliberately,” said one House Democratic lawmaker, who asked for anonymity to speak freely. “Anything that takes away from bread-and-butter issues is playing into his hands.”

“The President won this one,” said another House Democratic lawmaker of the showdown. “What the President has done is politically brilliant. Pelosi was trying to marginalize these folks, and the President has now identified the entire party with them.”

The thing that’s sad is that they’re being mistaken for an entirely different group of people.

I just started reading this thread and it was a pile of garbage at the top. At least this comment is on the right track.

Saying is so obviously racist. I mean obvious. How many of you have grown up here? That is what racist sheltered people (like in the Midwest / rural areas) say to ethnic minorities. All the time. It’s the classic line. It’s actually pathetic its been used for so long that it’s being used now.

To think it’s not racist means you are dumber than a bag of rocks. No one is saying to Italian Americans to “go back to where you came from”.

No one is telling Irish Americans to “go back where you came from”

German Americans? Nope
Czech Americans? Nope
Swedish Americans? Nope

But guess what? 100 years ago, people were saying the same thing to the Irish. The Italians.

We all came from shit-hole countries. If they weren’t shit-hole countries at the time, not many people would have the desire to emigrate here!

If you can’t formulate real logic to counter why the majority of the country disagrees with your conservative stances, maybe you should leave

Both racism and socialism are real dangers to America.

We want racial equality. We want economic freedom. We need law enforcement

I understand people are reacting emotionally due their own personal experiences to this event.

When racism(it is real and still present I agree), is used as an excuse to shut down any discussion which one disagrees with and to further one’s agenda, especially in politics then it will come back to bite you. That’s what is happening today.

Here’s one example of this behavior which I posted earlier.

AOC basically calls Nancy Pelosi a “racist”(without using that particular word), because AOC was in a political fight with Pelosi. Pelosi belongs to the same party as her, now think till what extent AOC and Omar and Talib will go against REAL political opponents, i.e. Trump and the Republican party?

Some people charged Pelosi as racist. Can we examine whether that claim is true or false? If it’s true, we can probably charge most people as racist whenever they argue with us.

“Going back to your own country” is clearly racist and no need to argue about it. It’s also wrong to shut off the discussion with “going back to your own country”, everyone needs to argue based on logic and facts.

Rhetoric is hazardous

Yeah that will happen in electoral politics

Every time someone charges another racist incorrectly, fine $1000 for each incidence.

The thing is because AOC is a rookie politician, she showed the reality of her politics. The more experienced ones would never make this mistake. Maybe in 20 years(if she survives), she will be as consummate as Pelosi.

In this forum only since most of you are intellectuals. Not wise for average folks since they can’t win a debate against an intellectual.

This discussion keeps going on an infinite loop. Can we just agree on the following:

  1. Trump’s tweet was racist
  2. AOC is nuts and likes to use racism as a shield

#2 does not negate #1 nor does #1 negate #2. Using them in conjunction to defend either side of the argument is pointless.

Everyone keeps saying Trump said “go back home”. That phrase is constantly used by the media and appears in quotes. That phrase is literally nowhere in his tweet. People paraphrased the tweet into the most inflammatory language possible, then they pretend that paraphrasing was the actual tweet.

The actual tweet:

“So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done.”

No one mentions the part of the tweet where he tells them to come back to the US and show us how it’s done. That tweet has been paraphrased and spun into a completely racist phrase.

It’s identical to the “animals” comment which was paraphrased and spun out of context to appear as if he said it about all Mexicans when it was clearly about MS-13 gang members.

The only way this tweet is not racist is if the bolded parts are removed. Asking them to show us how it’s done does not make it whole.

I think the “go back” part is racism. But the criticism of “corrupt” countries is only a personal opinion and not racism. Racism is agaiant a race, not a political body.

There is verbal racism. There is also racism beneath perfectly correct words and hide deep.

When Californians discriminate against inner cities, is it racism? Or racism like discrimination?

The corrupt part was bolded because it was connected to the reference that those Congresswomen originally came from those countries.
