Water Shortages?

After having our own drought and seeing all these others cities around the world potentially looking at similar issues in the near future, anyone investing in water treatment or water-related companies?

I have no idea what a water shortage is. I live in Seattle.

Is the water shortage cyclical or structural? If it’s only cyclical and will get better in a year or two maybe not worth the bother.

It has to be structural in some areas. Phoenix and Vegas were never meant to have populations that big. Most of CA is desert if it wasn’t for the aqueduct.

Also, we pump water from underground and use it. A lot of it ends up evaporating in the air. Then it’ll fall as rain and odds are it’ll fall as rain in the ocean. We also deplete inland lakes and reservoirs of water, and most of that will fall as rain into the ocean too. I honestly wonder how much of the ocean rising is because of this water usage cycle. Desalinization seems like a good way to lower the ocean. We could do that instead of getting water from underground. It could also be used to replenish inland lakes which seem to be lower and lower every year.

I think it’s structural as well, since in this article they cite cities like Mexico City having only a 10 year runway. Capetown this has been known for a few years too, but it’s getting dire now.
