Buyers of those “high value” houses pay cash. High interests rate and therefore less competition from poorer folks suits them just fine.
Absolutely, but I can also argue that these monied folks are doubling (quadrupling maybe?) down on the area with their hard, cold cash. These people can live anywhere in the world, why here? Well, until something or some place is actually better, this is THE PLACE to live.
Gosh, maybe I should stay here instead… LOL
The Bay is THE BEST place to live. Bar none. The only downside is houses are hella expensive (because people love to live here hello?). So folks like yourself who have paid off houses I really don’t see any reason to leave.
No reason why we can’t stay here half the year and then check on my pool in Penang the rest of the year…

San Diego has a lot going for it. Beautiful scenery, warmer than SF but cooler than SJ. Low crime rate.
SD is cool and has probably the best weather in the world. But it’s a bit boring for me…
