Do you agree that most hi-tech and video game culture is similar to FB?
Not sure what you mean by video game. By and large, at least in Google, the culture is not that different. There’s another video where the guy compared Google and FB.
If true, FB should definitely investigate the employee’s manager because otherwise it would appear to be condoning the deceptive treatment described in the video, and nobody deserves to have their life messed with like that. It is understandable if the company wants to avoid spreading publicity though, as suicide clusters have happened as a result. Considering Shyu (the guy who put out the video) was fired from FB I wonder if he has negativity bias as I saw the titles of some of his other vids.
Is it really that bad to work for Facebook or Google?
High pay, high stress. No free lunch.
Video game companies. Heard is very stressful and work long hours.
Btw, from what I read, NFLX has the most stressful working environment.
Gaming (and animation) industry is well known for paying peanuts and will grind you like mad. They can afford it since demand is high for gamers - they grow up wanting to work for Blizzard.
Internet companies are different story. I credit the competitive culture due to low median age, and meritocracy. I actually think the current competitive culture at fb and goog are actually at optimum for productivity. It’s sad, but as soon as we start to regulate diversity, work life balance etc, their productivity will drop at company wide. They then need to decide if the short term drop in productivity would be offset by potential long term gain (if any).
Useful diversity is diversity of cognitive abilities. Somehow become about gender, political, social, race, culture and education diversity.
Yeah. People feel terrible about making so much money. I bet they’re all about to quit for much lower pay at boring companies.
They are all quitting along with the folks at Google. Mass quit party!
Not good for me. Still got 500 shares. Turn from very green to red. Why Boolean didn’t inform us Chart doesn’t look good at $200, thought just a correction, now look like a broken company instead of a damaged stock.
No talk of Zuckerberg live streaming the employee Q&A?
Yikes
“TikTok … is really the first consumer internet product built by one of the Chinese tech giants that is doing quite well around the world. It’s starting to do well in the U.S., especially with young folks,” Zuckerberg said.
Yi Yin can join Tik-Tok for 20% increase in pay.
Some employees have criticized the system for penalizing people who are good performers, but don’t participate in social activities with peers.
Don’t participate in social activities in a social networking company? Cultural fit?
