Why Is Gas In The Bay Area So High?

Yes…

but the roads are so much better than AZ… NOT!!

We will get mass transit systems… maybe in 25 years

Actually - they are much better here. Far fewer potholes, better surfaces overall. And wrecks are cleared in about a third the time. A jackknifed big rig is a problem for an hour or maybe 90 minutes, not half a day. And signage is WAY better. When you approach the intersection of two freeways road markings tell you which lane you need to be in at least a mile before you get there. Also like the anti-drunk driving messages - “drive hammered, get nailed.”

Gas is too cheap. I need to see $10 a gallon so the peons will stay off the road while I cruise.

My guess is CA will raise taxes so that the CA state can help people pay for gas in the future   What a f** mess.

CA gas taxes are a political statement about global warming. Make the poor pay a regressive tax so that rich checkbook liberals can feel better about themselves driving a Tesla powered by fossil fuel burning electrical generation plants. Meanwhile the poor have a choice… drive less or eat less.

…or freaking MOVE!

Here we go again. It’s easy to lead the ignorant though.

People vote for them…. They are getting what they deserve.

So were is the other $1.50 of taxes coming from???

Gas was $4.50 in the midwest while $6.50 in CA.

Till 2020, Oil Companies were not “price gouging”, and suddenly from 2021 to today/2022 Oil Companies have a new business model of “price gouging”?

Looking for $9.99 per half gallon.

Run for the CA Senate  Then you’ll be able to help all the 20% poor in CA

I’m hoarding EVs so that I can flip them in the coming gaspocolypse. :sunglasses:

Already more than that at Tahoe Keys marina gas dock. My friend will probably leave his 80mph Fountain that burns 40 gallons an hour in his backyard.

California has done everything it can to reduce supply - from closing countless gas stations because they couldn’t afford environmental clean up, to essentially making it completely uneconomical for refineries to expand or become more effcicient, to doing everything it can to increase the cost of transporting fuel with updated environmental regulations for trucks. And on top of that, by telling oil companies that oil/gas is going away over the next 15 years, so that they shouldn’t invest in increasing or even maintaining capacity.

At the same time, electric cars are barely a dent in the market, so demand has stayed the same or grown.

There, no need for an investigation. We just need to find the advisors who have been reducing supply and ensure that they stop with that nonsense. Oh wait, they’re the ones who want an investigation. Maybe they could just look in the mirror.

Oil companies have readily admitted in their earnings calls that they are optimizing profits and cash flow over providing more supply. That’s free market.

If we don’t like it, we should learn to be less dependent on oil.
