Worldwide Baby Bust

I can only do what gen x does, lame  Talk smart, so far, SMH. If you have done what you have said in previous post, there should be logical and balanced explanation of a view but so far I see views colored with prejudice… quite often unsupported assertions.

Anyway, that is not the main point in previous post. My point is don’t just look at the spotlighted place, there are many magicians who don’t want you to look at certain places (issues). The last sentence is not the main point, is not an elaboration of the early points… now I realize is a distraction from my main point.

we were just there last week and everyone was talking about this…super sad.

NYT: Japan Has Millions of Empty Houses. Want to Buy One for $25,000?

As Japan’s population shrinks and more properties go unclaimed, an emerging segment of buyers, feeling less tethered to cities, is seeking out rural architecture in need of some love. The most recent government data, from the 2018 Housing and Land survey, reported about 8.5 million akiya across the country — roughly 14 percent of the country’s overall housing stock — but observers say there are many more today. The Nomura Research Institute puts the number at more than 11 million, and predicts that akiya could exceed 30 percent of all houses in Japan by 2033.

The Thursfields’ house, which sits among the paddies in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, about 45 minutes from central Tokyo, had been deserted after the previous owner’s family refused to inherit it upon the owner’s death. The local municipality took it over and put it up for auction with a 5 million yen ($38,000) minimum bid, but it failed to sell.

When it landed on the block again, Mr. Thursfield decided to try his luck. After giving the house a quick inspection with an architect friend and finding no major issues despite the years of neglect, he nabbed the house for 3 million yen, about $23,000.

Rise of feminism leads to plummeting birth rates :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I find it fascinating that total births are declining but out of wedlock births are increasing.

Fascinating or depressing?

The outcome is certainly depressing. There’s also zero effort to look at root cause of it. We just throw money at it after the facts to try equaling outcomes.

Rising financial independence of women from increasing educational level due to feminism.

Reversing above causes is impossible. Creative solution?

Plenty of very successful women have children. Financial independence doesn’t have to negate child-raising.

If that was true, then we would have been able to eliminate welfare programs. Having a kid out of wedlock is the #1 predictor of living in poverty. The rate of kids born out of wedlock started to increase when the pill became available, so clearly that didn’t help things. It was also when we started the first welfare programs aimed at helping single parents. It seems the more programs are created the more single parents we have. Singe parenthood isn’t because women are financially independent.

Population level. Personal anecdotes don’t represent population.

I am focusing on the first half of your comment.

Why blame women for wanting education, but not men for being dumb and lazy and not going to college?

College is increasingly dominated by women. Saw somewhere only 1 in 6 students in Howard are male. There are something rotten about American men.

A widely read article from WSJ 1.5 years ago:

A Generation of American Men Give Up on College: ‘I Just Feel Lost’

At the close of the 2020-21 academic year, women made up 59.5% of college students, an all-time high, and men 40.5%, according to enrollment data from the National Student Clearinghouse, a nonprofit research group.

There is even affirmative action for boys for God’s sake:

Some of the schools extend offers to a higher percentage of male applicants, trying to get a closer balance of men and women.

“Is there a thumb on the scale for boys? Absolutely,” said Jennifer Delahunty, a college enrollment consultant who previously led the admissions offices at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore. “The question is, is that right or wrong?”

Ms. Delahunty said this kind of tacit affirmative action for boys has become “higher education’s dirty little secret,” practiced but not publicly acknowledged by many private universities where the gender balance has gone off-kilter.

Men just don’t want to go to college:

“We do not see male applicants being less competitive than female applicants,” UCLA Vice Provost Youlonda Copeland-Morgan said, but fewer men apply.

Lots of men have figured out that you can make more money in the trades without all that student loan debt.

But the problem is that college graduates like marry fellow college graduates. If there is a large imbalance between male and female college attainment we will have fewer marriages.

And it’s not like most men who skip colleges are going to work in a lucrative trade like being an electrician. Most just flow aimlessly in life working odd jobs.

The women’s movement has fundamentally changed America. The pill and women’s liberation has created a society that is fractured and frankly lost. Men have no interest in going to colleges that preach hatred of male dominance. This has been going on for 60 years. I remember my sister going to Harvard and calling my dad a male chauvinist pig. It will not end well. Men aren’t interested in this feminist agenda. They are rejecting modern liberal arts colleges that are producing useless degrees for worthless jobs.

Well men need to get on with times. Either be an incel loser screaming at the cloud or go do something useful with life.

The bar is set higher now. If men can’t compete then move over to Afghanistan. Girls are not allowed to go to schools there. Lowly men can go assert their lost male superiority there, by holding the other sex down at gunpoint.
