The big cultural war is between urbanites and the rest of Americans. It is a now an even split. Urbanites want everyone to live in apartments and ride public transportation. They have no clue how much work is needed in areas outside cities for them to live their fairy tale existence.
Just like China. 10 % live in cities in luxury. Supported by 90% in rural areas living like slaves.
The worst part is the environmental movement is trying to destroy suburbs and rural America in the name of stopping climate change with rules that will make rural life too expensive. Vast areas of the US are already being depopulated. Most of our food will be imported and small town America will disappear.
Do not worry, California is too eager to return to the condition it was before merger into the USA. The speed at which California is moving forward in undoing the work of last 150 years to create a civilized state is amazing. SFH zoning is only one of them. They just did away with scores in university admissions. The respect for public property as well as private property is on decline. You can pitch a tent on highway 101 and not one will bother. Traffic rules are slowly being done away with. Enormous amount of tax collected is spent on wasteful pursuits like green energy and public transportation while it takes 10 min to drive 2 miles in city areas during commute hours.
I grew up in Indiana. the rural country is killing themselves, its not the environmentalists. Smart kids who can, can’t wait to get out because of the racism and backward thinking (this is white kids too, not just brown folk like me who grew up there). Racism there is worse now then when I was growing up (80s/90), and the lack of economic opportunitiy. For better or for worse, immigration of smart people is driving economic growth in this country and the more racist you are, the less immigrants are going to settle there, and further driving their own kids who have even half a brain away.

Did you just say that this country is not producing smart people and they (smart people) have to be brought from outside? I have been told the US has the best education system in the world.
I was looking at Indiana population. It has only grown over the years.
I am not sure, that is why asking. So, do the students get educated in best universities outside USA and then come to demand jobs in the USA? I have said this before, socialist countries do a good job of handing out degrees and diplomas but cannot give real work.
They probably took it from a better source. Point is best education system even though is a loose term, USA not at the top. For ex, can check below links,

I don’t know how it came up. I knew it was not a better source but the rankings were in sync with what I read years back from a better source, that’s why shared.
Or 73% of our Nobel laureates are immigrants. That seems significant.
The late Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore said it best. China can only recruit from one country: China. But US recruits top talents from every country in the world. And we need to make them feel welcome here.
