2,000 AI servers is good for what? A tiny company may be 1,000th of Appleās size? Donāt do this binary thinking of whether Apple bought any. Of course it bought some. After all last year it was still wasting time and resources on its doomed self driving car project.
If 2,000 is enough Apple wouldnāt want to buy 20,000 more. Iād argue even 20K is not enough.

Binary thinking again? Apple may be āawareā in the sense its engineers know there is such a thing, but Apple upper management certainly didnāt think itās urgent enough to warrant high investment until chatGPT started the whole AI craze.
Remember the excuses the Apple cult gave why Apple didnāt buy Nvidia chips?
Oh, Apple has some super duper in house chips and donāt need to pay Nvidia? Or Appleās AI models are so efficient they donāt need that much GPU compute? How about this: all inference will be done locally on Appleās own silicon so Nvidia chips are only for suckers. Apple is unique. Apple is efficient, unlike other companies like Meta and Microsoft.
Turns out none of these is correct. Apple didnāt buy many because it was late to the market and all Nvidia chip supplies were already locked up, by people with more vision like Zuck and Satya.

Elon Musk supposedly co-founded OpenAI and need lots of H100s for his FSD but he only gets 15k, so he is late to the market and is not as visionary as market thinks so?
Assumption. Off the cuff, I can already think of another assumption: I recall when ChatGPT is out, Tim Cook said to be careful. He could be referring to potential offensive remarks, Gemini woke incidents, etc. In other words, Apple has been working on Gen AI and aware of its shortcomings so is going about it with great care not unlike some dubious companies (yes, referring to those that bought lots of H100s) who for monies do all kind of unscrupulous activities.
My advice is donāt make outrageous remarks based on insufficient info. Sound foolish. Yes, above assumption is some outrageous remarks I made, just to show you how easy to come out with these kind of remarks.
Tech industry: I notice people like Zuck like to do malicious things like astroturfing and locked up talents/resources ie donāt need them but hire them so others canāt have access to them. This creates an artificial high demand of SWEs. Recall I said many times, META single handedly drive up salary of SWEs and the house prices in SV? When times are bad, he coughed back all these extra SWEs and the market celebrates him. Given past behavior, I speculate that he has likely do similar to the supply of H100s. Thinking aloud: Assuming 
by media, which some1 takes it as reality, is true. That is, Apple did close down the Special Project Group and transfer most staff to AI Group to focus on Gen AI. Usually skills of one group are not entirely relevant to another group, we can dream of a few possibilities of what could have happened:
- The self-driving project has a new boss;
- Many members of the SPG are working on LLM/ Gen AI which Apple wants to incorporate into all Apple applications and apps; Putting under AIG would facilitate that.
- There are huge overlap in scope of work between AI group and SP group;
- Technologies work on by SP group are relevant to other Apple products eg. Vision Pro and iPhone;
- Apple could have decided not to build the whole widget but instead focus on building a CarOS which is really an AI OS. Merging SPG into AIG would facilitate this development. According to some experts, the OS for Vision Pro is a CarOS, an AI OS.
The picture would be clearer as tidbits stream out of Apple Campus from time to timeā¦
