Zappos was a acquisition. Tony was the founder and CEO. He was not promoted by Amazon, he just stays in Las Vegas and kept his position.

Many mega caps doesn’t think Asians have the executive presence, a prejudice pretty close to the r word. Indians dominate the cloud computing e.g. MSFT and ADBE, a bit surprised the SVP is not an Indian. Taiwanese dominates the semis e.g. INTC and NVDA.

All tech companies share the ideal of focusing on long term growth vs short-term profits. Is why P/E of many tech stocks are high compare to other industries.

That’s why some people use PEG ratio since it factors in growth. Truth is that if revenue grows fast enough people ignore the rest. The hangover in stock price from growth slowing can be brutal though.
