Actually USA has pushed for China sovereignty of those places in the past. Check history. Post-war, China has lost many territories to many nations - you can verify easily via the web search.
Did the US ask China to invade India and renege on a deal signed to enable the transfer of Hongkong from Britain? And claim Vladivostok is a Chinese City? And claim on the South China sea? Did US ask all these things?
This speaks to the dominating strength of our capital market. Even amid the highest US-China tension since Mao Chinese firms still want to IPO here.
Fintech Firm Lufax Targets $3 Billion in U.S. IPO
How to deal with China will be the most important issue in the next 10 years. The flip side of that coin is the de-globalization movement thatâs gathering momentum. Both issues got wide support on both sides of the aisles.
Fasten your seatbelt.
According to a current State Department official who requested anonymity, San Francisco was considered for closure but rejected due to its size and importance: The city has a large Chinese American population, and a large number of visas are processed at the consulate. Houston, on the other hand, was low-hanging fruit.
If there is an end goalâother than a dubious election strategyâit may be to force U.S. companies into a position of such uncertainty in China that they begin decoupling from the country voluntarily. At any rate, expect the relationship to get much worse in the immediate future.
I heard another theory is that the hawks want to lock in these policy positions and provoke a reaction from China so the Biden team canât easily backtrack next year. Sounds possible too.
In the past
Your choice of words is also not accurate. You should read up on history to understand those issues and not based your understanding on presumptions written by journalists.
In short, politics. Only @erth believe in whatever WH uttered.

Jack Ma Is Telling Chinaâs Startup Founders Itâs Time to Go Public
Hong Kong and Shanghai have become red-hot IPO destinations in 2020, hosting household names from JD.com Inc. to SMIC in a span of months
May soon need to open a HK account.
Longer term, a growing roster of bona fide tech giants can only benefit the cityâs exchange, diversifying its investment base while finally helping it fulfill its ambition of becoming the go-to destination for a new generation of technology enterprises.
No more protests? No coronavirus? Life goes on ![]()
Time for Pompeo to get rid of the HKD US dollar peg. Why even bother listing in HK? I thought China is all grown up now. Just stay in Shanghai.
Are the following news not true? Are they a mere figment of WHâs imagination?
- China invades India
- China reneges on a deal signed to enable the transfer of Hongkong from Britain.
- China claims Vladivostok is a Chinese City.
- China laying claim over South China sea.
And not to mention many other conflicts with small nations like Vietnam and Philippines
HK is part of China, just like Shanghai.
No, Hongkong was an autonomous region which was transferred to China only on the condition that the autonomy will be maintained for sometime like 50 years.
Your choice of words are wrong leading to different meanings of events. How can a man after recovering from being a sick man of the East take back what were stolen from him doing a wrong thing?
Trivial thought experiment:
I was sick. You took my Mac. @manch took my iPad. @Jil took my iPhone. I was forced to sign a contract. Now that I recovered. I want my Mac back - become invade? I want my iPad back - become lay claim? I want my iPhone back - become claim? Contract should be invalid due to sign under duress.
Understand the past will give a perspective on present.
Read up history! HK has always been part of China. Also read up on the exact words uttered by DXP.
No one owes China anything. My advise. Be my guest. If you have strength, your are welcome to take what you think was yours. I think this is the message world community is sending to China.
That is the exact same message China signal. Donât use the word, âworldâ loosely. World has 195 nations. If only a few, say a few.
It does not matter what HK was 10,0000 yeas ago. When Britain transferred it, it was in British possession. The transfer came with some conditions. China reneged on those conditions.
I donât think you know the issue in depth.
China is supported by countries like Pakistan, Iran. A person is known by the friends it keeps.
Does not really matter. The agreement of transfer is still in force and that is what matters in the case of Hongkong. Sorry, China has no standing on this issue.
If you read what DXP said, is up to China. The word, âtransferâ, is also wrongly used. How can you transfer my belonging to me? Anyhoo, just to enlighten you, HK is not HK per se, part of âHKâ is leased out to UK and have expired if I recalled correctly by now. UK wanted to return âBritish HKâ to China because it no longer has interest in holding it. China wanted to let HK have time to adjust so arbitrarily say 50 years, which is just a number.
Sorry, China has no standing on this issue.
There is no renege of any conditions, so donât know what you are talking about.
