I saw one person said Xi wants some official title for life because it’s easier for him to travel the world and make deals with foreign leaders. He could have done what Deng did. For many years the only title Deng held was the Chairman of the national bridge club. But everyone knows he’s the real power broker.
China is amazingly tough with the trade war. It was deleveraging its economy before butting heads with Trump and it just carried on. Americans including Trump think Chinese stock market crashed because of trade war. In fact the deleveraging reform is far more important. It also continues to curb back on property development. It just carries on doing reforms.

The Chinese stock market already crashed. It hasn’t recovered since 2006. Everyone in China can care less about that stock market.

One very strange thing is that Chinese stock market is completely divorced from its real economy. Its economy gallops up 8-10% a year for decades but its financial market just continues to suck. They really need to do big ass reforms there. That’s why Chinese just buy properties like crazy. That’s the only decent investment they have.
Chinese stock market is actually in a steep upward trend if you look at it from a multi-decade perspective. It’s just that it is subject to incredible speculation every now and then so it has generated some major peaks and troughs.
