Where do you see that they don’t know that it’s covid-19?
There is no consistent way to record death. Some nations can’t be bothered to test the death. Some nations test the death and if have Covid-19 then record as deaths under Covid-19, actually didn’t know whether die of other sickness or Covid-19. So the number of confirmed cases# and number of deaths are not easily compared - compare anyway since is the best data we have.
#We know that some include asymptomatic, some don’t, some even include recovered** but not tested before.
** Antibodies stay around for a few days to few weeks, so can test for antibodies to see whether one was infected by Covid-19 previously. Singapore has such test kits and include into confirmed cases.

The cause of death is not mentioned. I went a few replies back in the chain.
I can’t image the cruise business will survive. I never wanted to be on a ship with 5000 potential disease carriers anyway.

Social distancing works. The earlier the better, California and Washington data show.
Once the new confirmed cases drop to a xxx level, should do aggressive contact tracing and isolate the positive to a facility to force down the steady level of the long tail to near zero before removing the shelter-in-place order.

As of March 31, approximately 90,100+ tests had been conducted in California. At least 31,038 results have been received and another 59,100 are pending. These numbers include data California has received from commercial, private and academic labs, including Quest, LabCorp, Kaiser, University of California and Stanford, and the 22 state and county health labs currently testing.
California now has 8,155 confirmed cases and 171 deaths.

His biggest concern now is the local unlinked cases. There are close to 100 of such cases.
This figure, he said, is more important than the overall number of new cases, as it points to how quickly the virus is spreading in the community.
Has USA put in place an aggressive contact tracing yet? From the press conferences, I get the impression there is some contact tracing but not very aggressive. Hence, can’t tell how many new cases are related and how many are unlinked.
Time for him to push for government to issue 1 free box of 100 surgical masks per household.
Well we finally got our second case in Gila Co. Guy worked at a Walmart so it won’t be our last.

There are 7 cases in Cedar Park. AFAIK cases tend to cluster in a locality e.g. the well known assisted living home in Seattle. So if I know which locality I can avoid going there. However, because of privacy, only age is published. Now, have to wear surgical mask every time I go to Costco and HMart. And wear my glove opening letterbox/letters and packages from online stores.
Most people don’t need surgical grade. Just use a piece of cabbage.

Singapore has been lauded by many countries around the world as one of the best examples. However, there are people in Singapore itself who are asking, should we have stopped the Chinese from coming in earlier because the first 18 cases were from China? Should we have asked people to social distance a bit earlier?
Mr Wong: If you look at all of these measures, one of the challenges we’ve had is making decisions - consequential decisions - in a very short period of time, with not a lot of data and information. And we have very short reaction times. And these are important decisions that have impact on people’s lives and livelihoods. So again with the benefit of hindsight, certainly you could say some things could have been done faster, perhaps some things were not even necessary. So we can always learn with the benefit of hindsight and with experience and improve decision-making. There’s no doubt that things can be improved, but like I said, let’s deal with it going forward, let’s deal with the situation at hand.
Every country faces the same constraint on mask supply. A pragmatic government should do what LA does: healthy civilians use any type of cloth masks and leave medical grade to frontline nurses and doctors.
I see the SG government still hasn’t learned its lesson.
