Went to Kaiser today for regular check up. None of the doctors and nurses there were wearing masks. The only questions they asked were “do you have a fever” and “have you been outside of the country in the last two weeks.” This is really bad. I wouldn’t be surprised if we become the next Italy. If Pence wants to run for president in 2024 he can kiss it goodbye.

woooooah. I’d expect better of Kaiser… That’s a major fail. I hope at least the doc washed his/her hands.
Although maybe there’s a shortage of face masks and they are waiting to use them?
Or maybe they’re just getting it over with–get infected, move on with life.

- Even if you are not ill, avoid visiting hospitals, long term care facilities, or nursing homes to the extent possible. If you do need to visit one of these facilities, limit your time there and keep 6 feet away from patients and employees of the facility.

Press conference (lower in the thread) indicates that the officers used a mask. Still, they could’ve been exposed just because of proximity to the body.
Yeah… that was my thought too, but better to get it done now, than wait 2 weeks.
Exactly my thoughts, I had my mask on most of the time and washed my hands like crazy though.

…Alibaba claims its new system can detect coronavirus in CT scans of patients’ chests with 96% accuracy against viral pneumonia cases. And it only takes 20 seconds for the AI to make a determination – according to the report, humans generally take about 15 minutes to diagnose the illness as there can be upwards of 300 images to evaluate.
Rival healthcare organization Ping An recently announced a very similar-sounding system… the smart image-reading system has provided services to more than 1,500 medical institutions. More than 5,000 patients have received smart image-reading services for free. The system can generate smart analysis results in around 15 seconds, with an accuracy rate above 90%.
China Wants to Patent Gilead’s Experimental Coronavirus Drug
The Wuhan Institute of Virology – based in the Chinese city at the center of the epidemic – has applied for a patent in China for the use of the antiviral drug, known as remdesivir, in treating the ailment. The application was made on Jan. 21 together with a military academy, according to a Feb. 4 statement on the institute’s website.
So China has been using remdesivir to treat Covid-19 early in the epidemic.
Chinese scientists have found Gilead’s remdesivir, and chloroquine, an 80-year-old malaria drug, “highly effective” in laboratory studies at thwarting the coronavirus, they said Tuesday in a paper in the journal Cell Research. The two drugs’ efficacy on humans required further clinical tests, the institute said in its statement.
Then work with GILD for clinical tests to establish its efficacy scientifically.
How long to proclaim clinical trials are successful? Is like a month now.
We may already have a treatment already, only need confirmation scientifically!
If there’s no side effect, then what is the harm of giving it to infected people? If it works, that’s great. It it doesn’t, that’s no harm caused.
Don’t forget the basics: zinc inhibits coronaviruses in general and good nutrition goes a long way. Take Vitamin C (and lower your sugar since it can attach to the receptor the Vitamin C needs to attach to) and Vitamin D. People are always looking to pharma for their solutions, but good health is most significantly affected by what you eat.
Meats contain tons of zinc.
Most plants don’t.
Some plants like soybeans contain tons of zinc.
Now, do plant based beyond meat and impossible contain tons of zinc?

In general plant based protein doesn’t have the nutrients a good pastured beef patty will have. EAt pastured meat, not processed junk.

Researchers at the Toronto-based AI platform BlueDot identified COVID-19 on Dec. 31 just hours after local officials in Wuhan, China, reported the city’s first diagnoses, but it took the Chinese government weeks to make an official announcement.
BlueDot’s AI technology was able to identify coronavirus in just a day when its technology picked up signs of an “unusual pneumonia” coming from a market in Wuhan on Dec. 30, CNBC Make It reported on Wednesday.
