Memorial day weekend. The whole nation went out on the town after weeks in lockdown. My little corner of AZ was deluged by a crowd over 10x the size of the local population - and nearly all from Maricopa Co. which is COVID central for AZ, accounting for more than half the state’s cases. A spike two weeks later was to be expected even without the riots. While our death toll has gone from just 2 to 3 our case count has gone from a couple dozen to just under a hundred.

We survived Memorial Day weekend in Tahoe. No deaths, 50 cases. A couple of people hospitalized.
Fourth of July fireworks cancelled. Concerts cancelled for all summer. Trails are crowded. Finally warm. Beaches will be crowded soon. Water level too high in this drought
Beaches are very narrow. Headed to the farm most weekends this summer.
Even though we had the driest February ever,
lake level is at record highs. Good for boaters, not so good for the shrinking beaches. The rumors are they Lake will be held one foot lower than last year to allow for some beach area.
Makes it tough being a climate alarmist
Going to Tahoe this weekend…curious how crowded beaches/trails will be along with how restaurants are enforcing distancing.
Supposed to be warm that means crowded beaches. Nevada beach handles the crowds best. Restaurants are open with half the tables
The trails are crowded. Get to the trail head before 8am or no parking. Especially anywhere near Emerald Bay. Glen Alpine trail head was full by 9am last week. People are hiking to the top of Tallac already on the west side. Too much snow on the East side. My wife hiked 12 miles to Aloha Lake on Monday… lots of people camping in Desolation wilderness.
People are buying houses too
Haircut!

China responded Wednesday to a new outbreak in Beijing by scrapping more than 60% of its flights to the capital, canceling classes and strengthening requirements for social distancing. It was a sharp retreat for the nation that declared victory over COVID-19 in March.
“This has truly rung an alarm bell for us,” Party Secretary Cai Qi told a meeting of Beijing’s Communist Party Standing Committee.
China’s response was to about 137 new cases, a fraction of the number some U.S. states see each day.
All the accusations make China edgy. 137 cases??? need a sledge hammer?
People in Central Valley towns don’t wear masks. Not sure if they will change even with the new rule.
Watch what they do, not what they say. Thought that was clear.
Newsom is trying…
