Never before I have seen so many people rooting for a virus to become more lethal and the worst case possibilities come true.
We should see what happens in another two weeks. Likely it will be forgotten. And like it happens in the case where the speed of spread of virus is inversely proportional to the fraction of population infected.
What happen when no one is left to be infected with covid-19? How far are we from that ( near 100% infection) ?
I recalled @acre(correct me if I am wrong) that coronavirus will become more infectious and less lethal through time because a dead host canât transmit. At steady state, any coronavirus is no different from common flu. So at steady state, most likely only those who have immunity compromise and/or are excessively obese/ serious diabetes/ high hypertension will be affected. IMHO, it sounds scary only because media keeps politicizing it and keeping it in the spotlight. Also if everybody is wearing masks and practicing social distancing, donât think SIP is necessary.
One more thing, modern luxury has weakened us physically and medically. This virus is no threat to any1 with normal immunity.

At this point, it will be good idea to allow people to use personal discretion and mix as they wish. Those who dare, go out. And those who fear, stay in. This is one way to allow slow and gradual controlled community transmission.

Taiwan has 24M people and is just off the coast of China.
Couldnât agree more. At 0.4% legality itâs 4x the flu. Nothing to shut down the world over. We have become weak of mind and spirit. This doesnât bode well for the future. Far worse things than this will be thrown at us if history is any guide.
Covid19 is the perfect natural virus⌠it kills the old, weak, and sick. Not good for old folks like me but it is natures way of culling an overpopulated world.
We will do our best to stop it, but unless an effective vaccine becomes universally available it will keep attacking us unless herd immunity kicks in, SIP or not.
The flu sickens 50m America year. Covid19 is even more contagious. It will keep spreading not matter what unless there is total shut downs. No travel, (thatâs cars too) ⌠No protests allowed, quarantines, Marshall Law. Isolate all victims even from their own families.
Americans wonât put up with that. They would rather die than live like that.

What those of us with some knowledge about Coronaviruses have been saying is now official. Any vaccine is likely to be only partially effective.
Also read an article where CA govt official gave several reasons for the spread in CA, but when asked about the protests being a factor said âDonât have evidence which supports thisâ

I agree but I think the best way to restart the economy is everyone get on board with wearing masks everywhere. Itâs the quickest best way to get people around each other without immense spread.
Also in other news my sisterâs bf who she lives with tested negative, so hopefully that means she wasnât that contagious and my parents donât have it. They are in TX as well and have had a hard time finding a place to get tested quickly.

By analyzing the trend and mitigation measures in Wuhan, China, Italy, and New York City, from January 23 to May 9, 2020, we illustrate that the impacts of mitigation measures are discernable from the trends of the pandemic. Our analysis reveals that the difference with and without mandated face covering represents the determinant in shaping the pandemic trends in the three epicenters. This protective measure alone significantly reduced the number of infections, that is, by over 78,000 in Italy from April 6 to May 9 and over 66,000 in New York City from April 17 to May 9. Other mitigation measures, such as social distancing implemented in the United States, are insufficient by themselves in protecting the public. We conclude that wearing of face masks in public corresponds to the most effective means to prevent interhuman transmission, and this inexpensive practice, in conjunction with simultaneous social distancing, quarantine, and contact tracing, represents the most likely fighting opportunity to stop the COVID-19 pandemic.

Why am I not surprised:
It might sound counter-intuitive to some. But, allowing (not forcing) people, who are not afraid and are willing, to go out without a mask will allow community transmission. The human bodies of those who think are fit enough need to be given a chance to learn this virus and build a resistance or immunity towards it.
That is not the issue with not wearing mask - a mistake made by Dr Fauci in advising is ok not to wear mask initially - he tries to do damage control recently. Two BIG sins are committed by those who donât wear masks and later contracted the virus:
a. Cost of recovery (productivity loss, quarantine, medical fees, hospitalization, âŚ)
b. Infect others who could be vulnerable people who later die + above costs of those infected
Shouldnât the people who believe they are vulnerable and prone to infection stay inside? Should they need to come outside and be part of crowed where distancing is not possible, should they not cover themselves with mask and protective clothing ?
