Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

Choosing between economy and public health is a false choice. As we have seen in the last few months there is no economy if your customers are dropping dead like flies.

Trumpers need to open their eyes and look at how other countries deal with this. Taiwan just lifted all their internal travel restrictions yesterday and people rushed out to spend money. That’s how you revive the economy: by kicking the pandemic’s butt.

Is that all you could find?
Newsom has only urged. Not changed anything. Lets watch for a few days and we will revist this topic.

Wrong. No one is dropping dead like flies.

More than 120k Americans have died. More are dying every single day.

Define your term “no one”.

These are cumulative numbers. Most happened before the SIP was relaxed. They are not due to the relaxation of SIP.

Seems the herd immunity science experiment is not working out so well in Sweden. Death rate approaching Italy.

SoCal sucks ass.

Most died during SIP

Many factors, some of them include:

  1. Most of the 120k were from the tri-state area around NY. They haven’t fully reopened yet.
  2. Docs are getting better at treating patients.
  3. Seems like more young people are catching it than old people. They are more likely to survive.
  4. There are just a lot fewer days after SIP is lifted. Lifting dates vary but even for states like Florida their SIP ended on May 11, only for 6 weeks.

So given all these let’s see how Florida is doing since SIP ended. Data source: https://covidtracking.com/data/state/florida

Death count before SIP was lifted: 1,805. Today: 3,489. So 1,684 has died since SIP was lifted, compared to 1,805 before. So you are right, fewer died after SIP, for now. Let’s check back in 3 days.

Of course patients who died on May 12 didn’t catch Covid on that date, but if you want to be a Covid truther and claim SIP doesn’t work you better give us some data.

Southern states reported a surge in coronavirus cases Saturday, setting records across the board just days after the U.S. as a whole saw its most cases ever in a 24-hour period.

Florida on Saturday reported a record 9,585 new cases. Arizona reported 3,591 new cases, appearing to match a single-day record set earlier this week. Nevada, Georgia, and South Carolina also reported record numbers of cases on Saturday.

SIP does not work for the economy. Dirty little secret about viruses. 60% of the population needs to exposed or a vaccine needs to be developed. The chance of an effective vaccine in the next two years is 50/50 at best. With the Manch philosophy you might as well sell everything and move to an island. SIP is unsustainable and will be unenforceable the next time around. Meanwhile SIP will bankrupt us and merely delay the inevitable.

Deaths per day is the key number. Let’s hope it doesn’t catch up in 2 weeks like before.

NY numbers and very low now.

No state can afford to keep shut down. The clock of economy must keep ticking else people will begin rioting for bread.

Nobody argues for states to continue shutdown completely. The initial shutdown was necessary, but not sufficient, to contain the spread of the virus.

My point was just to counter the BS that SIP was useless.

Looking forward to arguments why social distancing and wear masks are useless.

The ugly truth is that in war and pandemic, more BS goes around because those who are supposed to have authentic information work with half baked and unconfirmed information. That is why it is better to deal with controlled movement than to stay stand still on the basis of speculations and untested assumptions.

You can clearly see Sweden on the map.

And then there’s MAGA-land.

You cannot refute one falsehood with another falsehood.

So Sweden has more covid19 now. But what about 2 years from now, when there is still no vaccine and Sweden is booming while the he rest of the World cowered in their homes with the economy in the toilet and society has collapsed like in the Seattle crazy zone. The rest of the world will get more covid19 cases, it is only a matter of time. SIP was to flatten the curve… Then what?

Vikings conquered Europe over 1000 years ago. They are tougher than other Europeans.

Maybe they will again
