Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

Should not have opened in the first place. Not until we start arresting people for not wearing masks.

California to close indoor businesses in some counties as coronavirus cases hit record highs

The state will also ramp up its enforcement of recommended social distancing guidelines and face-covering requirements, Newsom said. Seven agencies will come together to form a “strike team” that will target noncompliant workplaces, he said.

“It’s more education. I’m not coming out with a fist,” Newsom said. “We want to come out with an open heart, recognizing the magnitude of some of these modifications.”

No, please come out with a :fist_right:

Where will you put them all? We’re already trying to empty prisons.

Quick fix prison cells made of PVC walls.

Throw them in jail.

“They put money in a pot and they try to get COVID. Whoever gets COVID first gets the pot. It makes no sense,” McKinstry said. “They’re intentionally doing it.”

My friends are putting blue strips on their cars. Might get you out of a ticket or get vandalized. A crapshoot

Not good very bad. Europe has 30% more people.

OK sure. We can’t solve a housing crisis but in THIS case…

Yeah, that’s practical in a state that has early release for everyone, since there isn’t enough room in prisons. Release the real criminals and jail the people not wearing masks. Meanwhile, criminals are being released due to coronavirus risk in prisons. Wait, why can’t they just make prisoners wear masks if masks make everyone safe?

Notice how May, 1st was when re-opening started. The trend was still downward. Then protests erupted and the trend sky rocketed. Are you seriously still in denial about it? Just look at county data. Florida blew up in Miami-Dave county. That’s where the biggest protests in Florida were.

The media says it is racist that communities of color have higher rates of virus, but isn’t that where the riots were? The media is trying to stir up a race war in the middle of a pandemic.

Same with AZ. Spikes correlate with protests. The declining age of cases also correlates.
Here in Gila Co we finally made it up to 5 deaths. No protests here. Restaurants and bars still open; little to no mask wearing.

Because correlation must always imply causation?

To conclude that protests led to spike of cases it’s not enough to look at places with lots of people protesting and lots of new cases. You also need to see if there are places where there aren’t that many protestors but still lots of new cases, and places with lots of protestors but no spike. That’s what the research I linked to did. And they concluded there is no evidence supporting the claim that protests were a significant driver.

It makes intuitive sense. People who normally go out for a drink or getting a burger in town may be scared of protests and chose to stay home. Wasn’t it part of the reason why so few people showed up at Trump’s Tulsa rally? So the final net effect may be a wash.

Arizona is currently leading the nation in cases per capita. Are people telling me there are more protestors per capita in Arizona than anywhere else in America? In a red state? Trump must be in real trouble now.

Well looks like Sweden finally wised up. Their science experiment with human lives failed miserably.

Here’s the link.

Some comment posting below:

June 15, 2020 - “New York City officials have taken a soft stance over fears that mass protests could lead to a spike in coronavirus cases. “Let’s be clear about something: if there is a spike in coronavirus cases in the next two weeks, don’t blame the protesters. Blame racism,” Mark Levine, head of the city council’s health committee, tweeted earlier this month.”

March 27, 2020 - “But Mr. de Blasio warned at a news conference on Friday that officials would decide this weekend whether to impose a $500 fine on those flouting social-distancing rules by gathering in large groups at parks and ignoring police orders to disperse.”

Only two things have changed, the dates and the political statement being made.

The only way to explain it is mental illness.

Despite all the hoopla around the rising numbers of positive tests, I think this is a good news. The sooner we achieve near 100% infection, the sooner we give our bodies opportunity to learn and decipher this virus and build immunity to it.

All the protesters were in places like Scottsdale - where all the cases are. With the exception of Indian reservations no protests weeks ago has meant hardly any cases today. Gila Co only recently passed the point where CV cases equaled the number of flu cases for the 19/20 season and has just 5 deaths.
