Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

Actually, the media has found another narrative to scare the heck out of gullible people. The new story is that even those who recover from coronavirus, their antibodies die in a few months. So, if you go by the media, there is no way you will be able to escape coronavirus. Now you know why the term fake news is so popular, only to be surpassed by term pseudo-science.

Masks continue to be political for some reason.

These people are having a Darwinian party too. Packed into an indoor small room with no social distancing and no maaks.

Parent after parent followed at the Utah County commission meeting Wednesday afternoon, objecting for more than two hours to having their kids in masks even as counts of the virus continue to climb across the state, where there are more than 30,000 confirmed cases.

They packed into the small boardroom to talk, pulling tape off the seats meant to maintain social distancing and crowding in against the walls. They wore “Trump 2020” hats and carried little American flags, and every time someone said “freedom” or “constitutional rights” the whole room cheered. Almost no one wore a mask; those who did had them pulled under their chins.

Masks being political Take 2:

“If only everyone wears a mask we will beat the virus in 3 weeks” works everywhere in the world except 'Merica.

Why do you assume other countries specifically it’s neighbors did not also make the same mistake? My view is all of these countries made the same mistake. So, taking that into consideration the effect of “neglect of vulnerable population” cancelled out/normalized when compared to it’s neighboring countries.

Reposting the graph comparing it to it’s neighboring countries. This starting from March 2020 compared to it’s neighbors. It clearly show every country had a spike but not to the same scale as compared to Sweden. In fact, the deaths in Sweden NOT only the beginning in March but over this whole span of time far exceeds the other countries by a scale of 5x-10x (adjusted for population). I have also posted the cumulative raw numbers(adjusted for population) in my earlier post.

Sweden needs to do some soul searching and take ownership of the death and suffering it inflicted on it’s own citizens.

Other countries did SIP quickly which by default protected the vulnerable. Sweden didn’t SIP which left the vulnerable exposed. Once they took steps to protect the vulnerable the number of deaths plummeted despite the number of new cases staying flat for weeks. Now they are finally seeing a decline in cases. They’re down to under 20 deaths a day.

I think it’ll take time before we know true impact, since we need to evaluate the impact on deaths of other causes. I’d be shocked if there’s not an increase in suicides given the 891% increase in calls the helplines.

So, SIP is good then? Maybe for the vulnerable. Glad Sweden learnt something at the cost of the vulnerable(who were somebody’s loved ones and probably were looking towards spending more time here). The vulnerable in the other countries are still around drinking their beers and enjoying life.

It’s true that initially the vulnerable died at a much higher proportion of the affected.

Here’s the graph of #of daily cases vs it’s neighboring countries. The number of cases and deaths have followed each other in proportion to a certain % i.e. it’s NOT that the number of cases are high while the number of deaths have plummeted.(Refer to the graph of deaths posted earlier)

People can argue that they have control over their own life, i.e. they are free to make a choice on this (although suicide isn’t legal in most countries) and NOT over others lives.

Cupertino parents are not relying on public education. They are more relying on private tutoring, home-study and students’ self-study.

Anyway, CUSD gives 3 options.

  1. 4-phase re-opening plan starting with distance learning: kids will be assigned to neighborhood school
  2. 100% distance learning: kids won’t be assigned to neighborhood school. No space guaranteed at neighborhood school if they want to switch to option1. No information on who is going to teach but certainly not your neighborhood school teacher.
  3. Home study: I was shocked that cusd actually proposes this option. Why should I pay property tax if school does’t need funding?

They did survey and got 75% for option1.
I am sure parents are so busy to figure out the best online classes available.

Heard from someone today. Schools in the state of Florida are opening normally this fall. Instructions will be given in the class room.

Totally agree with your thoughts on 3) and paying property tax and NOT wanting to do home study.
We chose option 1 as well.

If only everyone wears a simple mask.

According to prosecutors, the victim told police he was shopping in the produce section when he saw a man not wearing a mask. The victim told police he approached the man and told him to “put a mask on like the rest of us,” prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, the man said he thought the COVID-19 pandemic was a hoax, explained he wasn’t going to wear a mask and told the victim to get away from him.

After arguing, prosecutors said the man pulled his .22-caliber revolver from its holster, pointed it at the victim’s sternum, said “get the f— away” and threatened to shoot him.

The victim sounds like people who drive slow in the fast lane and create a road rage. Then claim victimhood.

I too question who the “victim” was here. Here in AZ if you tell someone to back off and they continue to approach it’s perfectly legal to draw a gun. Was told so directly by a Payson police officer who gave everyone working at the Republican Party Headquarters an orientation.

I wonder if the Cupertino premium for house prices will go away with home schooling and private schools?
Why pay a price premium for these preferred schools like in PA. Looks good for Redwood City property values.

In my opinion, school score is the best indicator for average education level of residents.
I would still stay in Cupertino(I actually live in WSJ in CU school district, hence, really mean WSJ) despite of disappointing public education. Frankly, CU public education was not that great even before pandemic.
People move to good school district area not for great teachers but for well-behaving friends for their kids.

Reopening schools is a terrible idea.

NYT is just another tabloid. They had to make massive revisions to the story.

Why don’t they make prisoners wear masks in prison?
Instead of releasing them?

And prisoners are already more than 6 feet apart separated by a think concrete wall.
