Did we work the same way 100 years ago? Back then most people didn’t even have flushing toilets let alone electricity. Different world. Oh by the way people started dying when they reached 50 too.
The world today is much more globalized, much more high tech, therefore much more efficient but at the same time much higher leveraged. “Just in time inventory” is a form of leverage. Having supply chains all around the world is a form of leverage. The world today is operating with much higher leverage and so much prone to panic attacks.
My position is that one should analyze critically group decisions as one should do to the individual decisions. Individual decisions go wrong so do the group decisions. We have to deal with unknowns in either case.
Added later: Despite the impression I may have given, I do care what each of you say and I do take them seriously.
Did you misunderstand me? I say you as an individual alone and not you as an individual member of a team. A forum is not sufficient to be viewed as a team, many details can’t be discussed properly.
The morons in the admin have decided to classify Covid 19 briefings. We are the only country to do that. I guess they are doing the same playbook that got them impeached. if the news looks bad, let’s classify so we can make up whatever shit we want and our gullible voter base will eat up whatever we tell them.
These are the times, we need to stay away from market or hold cash. I made good amount of money so far, enough is enough, stay with stability. I just moved stock cash to my mortgage bank today and pay down some mortgage tomorrow.
When market comes to bottom, which I do not know when and at what level, I will use cash to purchase stocks. Definitely, AAPL, TSLA, MSFT, AMZN and GOOGL are my picks for sure at that time.
Covid19 can be only confirmed when they actually do tests.
I believe people here are talking about fatality(=death/confirmed_case) rate.
S.Korea provides 20,000 free tests daily at drive-through open-space test locations
S.Korea has 12.27 hospital beds per 1000 people while US has 2.77 hospital beds per 1000. Its public health care system provides affordable health care to everyone including foreigners. List of countries by hospital beds - Wikipedia
Although the confirmed cases are high, over 90% cases are within cult-church congregation in one region. These are easier target to contain. Only issue is that they try their best to hide and run away from government. Sigh…
S.Koreans are more scared of “social suicide of being revealed on their wrong-doings during this critical time like interacting with people under corona-like symptoms” than coronavirus itself now because government literally reveals every single places they visited and interactions with people along with the date of onset of symptoms on their mobile-app. Once you are targeted by angry crowds in internet, your life can be quite miserable from then on.
Are you suggesting that we should hold cash?
Then, why do you put more money into your property instead of keeping as liquid asset(ie cash)?
I sold most of stock mid Feb. However, planning to hold cash for a while. Wonder what is the benefit of paying mortgage at the time like this.
Case to case differs: Time is not at my side. I am in late 50s, need to pay off my mortgage by around 65 age, planning to reduce whenever it is possible.
Young people, who have 20 to 30 years service, they can plan differently, use the money wisely.
Unless you want to be in a special rate room, hospitalization is covered by public insurance.
I guess this is matter of perspective. I never understand why health care cost should be so expensive in US.
Cost of labor in USA is sky high, so long you need a person to service you, EXPENSIVE.
What is cheap? Manufactured goods from overseas. If manufactured here, also EXPENSIVE because cost of labor in USA is sky high. cost of undocumented immigrant is reasonable
Health care needs guarantee and protection from lawsuits. IIRC, 10 years before my friend told me this, Big companies like Kaiser pays $23000 per month per doctor which will pay in case of any liability claims !
Apparently SG has not learned enough. No reason why it has more cases than HK, given its greater distance from China and hotter climate. Saw a video clips of SG streets a little while ago. People blindly believe their government and still crowd into malls without masks.
