Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

I did not say you were wrong. I just clarified that trade is only one part demand. People demand foreign currency to buy assets (like stocks, bonds, or debts, and real estate etc). US is a big exporters of its financial assets.

Added later: Hence we have terms like:
interest rate parity,
exchange rate parity
purchasing power parity

among currencies.

A weak currency is bad thing for a country which must import something essential like oil. Currently we are a net exporter. If that changes, say because fracking is banned or greatly curtailed, the effect on the economy could be severe.

Don’t forget to keep your mask on in between bites.

Why bother to go out. I would rather stay home than have the nanny state tell me how to eat

Apparently, in Austin, less than 6’ is allowed in restaurants if there is glass/ plastic panels separating the tables. For those restaurants, life is back to normal.

Why bother to stay in CA? I suspected there would by some excuse for things to get this crazy when I left; it’s just the way the state was going. Live life to the fullest. Live in a free state.
BTW - I’m visiting the Bruzzi winery in Young today. After two years I still don’t know if AZ makes good wine; guess I’ll finally find out.

Something Mel Brooks might have come up with.

My wine is very good. My merlot and cab are extraordinary. My Sauvignon Blanc was rated double gold. My port was one of the best ports I have ever had. Eldorado County is one of the pioneers in CA wine history. Over 170 years of tradition. My vines are over 20 years old.

Young is an amazing town. It’s like someone went to great lengths to make a 1940’s movie set only it’s real. I ended up with a blend which was actually made in Camp Verde. ā€œDevious.ā€ An extremely heavy red blend where they left the skins on. Really complex and good.

The nearest real grocery store to Young is about 60 miles away - 13 of that up a dirt road. Almost no retail presence in Young. People like it that way. Need fresh veggies? Grow your own.

I tried some Arizona wine last night. It was pretty good but pricey for $28/bottle. Similar to Eldorado and RhƓne valley type Syrah blends.

While we are definitely more diverse, given the large European descendent population I’d argue that NL is a good measure for half the population. Although I think they eat much healthier than we do.

Covid is airborne. This is fake protection. Better off opening all the windows.

While the two people separated by the panel is less than 6’, virus would need to travel more than 6 feet up&down or sideways to reach the other guy. Btw, even if some manage to reach the other guy, virus needs to be present in enough quantity (critical mass) to infect the other guy

Don’t get too worked up with the high number of confirmed cases, likely inflated to get funding. If I’m not wrong (guessing), tested positive doesn’t imply there are enough quantity to infect you.

Ok. Interesting way to look at it.

I don’t think it’s going to be effective though unless you’re venting that air…

I came up with a cure

This news gives an interesting twist. I thought the real factor that is saving Arizona is the herd immunity that it has developed by not using masks.

IMpressive guy. Graduated med school at 22.

Mask mandates were widely ignored (and still are). The statistical models I saw predicted a late June peak well before the mask mandates. Correlation isn’t causation.
The real mystery is why a state full of overweight codgers and drunken Indians didn’t suffer an East coast style deaths per million rate. I haven’t see a good explanation; just some speculation about vitamin D.
