It means they didn’t mind the elderly to die. May be too unproductive and costing the state too much money to take care of them? Let’s go the old, let new to have unencumbered growth. IMHO, is the right way to do thing but humans are too passionate, we want to take care of the elderly and weak.
If the elderly are home, not in nursing homes, and the workers are working in close quarters and at risk for bringing Covid home, this may make a lot of sense for them. Work conditions in America are very different.

AFAIK, in Singapore, hardly any elderly in nursing homes dies. Frankly, I don’t know the conditions of old folks’ home in USA and how are they run.

Am I right? I didn’t follow Singapore Covid that closely. Recall those few deaths are almost dying in hospital anyway. Can’t recall any of them are in old folks’ home.

A year into this thing and no one has figured out how to keep it out of retirement homes.

On the flip side, imagine the outrage if the government was holding vaccines and not letting them be distributed to people. That’s what would have to happen to build a reserve. Then they’d be tweeting about the government is holding back vaccines and letting people die.

This should be the whole nation’s number one priority.

So there will be clinics setup with no vaccines to distribute. It seems about as effective as Obama’s shovel ready jobs were. Just announce that you’re doing something even if it’s actually ineffective and meaningless. Whatever makes people feel better, since that’s where we are as a country. It’s all about feelings. Bravo!

Ok. I’m glad I’m not the only one puzzled about this. I thought a lot of hospital staff had been freed up because elective procedures were being cancelled. Puzzled why they can’t give the vaccines.
Also, does anyone else get shivers about the National Guard being called out to setup vaccine clinics??? Why not local volunteers? Presumably the guards aren’t medical personnel who know how to administer injections…so…why are they there???

I have 23 days skiing so far. Waiting in line is like Costco. Social distancing. Don’t have share a chair. Not reason to close skiing. Lodges are closed.

It’s the same as almost everything the government does. There needs to be some sort of action. That way the government can claim it’s doing something to help, and people think they are safer. Most people aren’t wired to actually think critically about what’s happening, why, and if there’s actually any benefit. They just go to sleep happy thinking things are better.

Maybe the government should think through what kind of conspiracy theories are going to develop when you call in the National Guard to “help administer vaccines.” Ooof.
