Here in Strawberry we are now under quarantine - from the weather. My goal is to reach my Crosstek, parked at the top of my driveway - and dig it out. By Friday, being realistic. Still coming down hard. At least the drought is over.

The recent virus pandemic (before Covid) is SARS under Obama admin, don’t recall he talked as if he knew what is going on, make recommendations on possible cures, etc. First Trump downplayed the severity, then he tried to avoid responsibility by shifting focus of the people elsewhere, then he peddled miracle cures, … What he did in the Covid-19 response is essentially trying to get himself elected and doesn’t care about the life n death of the people… is one of the main reasons he lost. I have to wonder, to some people, whatever Trump did is justified? This is a great topic for psychologists to study.

Let’s be clear. Obama did nothing and was lucky it wasn’t more contagious. The timelines for it are publicly available and have been posted here multiple times. No amount of posting the facts will matter.

Ebola never got that far because of strict contact tracing and they closed the borders, wouldn’t let in flights. Still confused how that one guy who infected the nurses made it here.
I NEVER felt like Trump downplayed the severity. He closed borders and the rest of the world got upset. Including the WHO if I recall correctly. That tells me he took it more seriously than others did. Every time I hear the accusation that he downplayed it, I look back on my recollection of that time, and it’s not the message I got at all.

Totally. The difference here is the MSMedia. The media screamed whenever Trump did anything wrong, and they’re going to do everything they can do ignore or excuse the things Biden and Harris have said. That’s what Marcus is upset about.
And rightfully so. It’s disgusting how news reporters use their power to sway public opinion instead of presenting facts.
BTW: Has everyone noticed how, now that Trump is no longer in office, the vaccines are safe and everyone is happy to get them??? We’re talking the vaccines that Trump helped get produced. Biden has zilch to do with them at all–in fact they just get delivered straight to hospitals without Biden’s staff doing anything at all. They were already on their way before Biden was sworn in! But now it’s ok to get them, because, well you know, Biden is like cool and he’s in the White House, so the vaccines are magically fine too.

i think most people were fine getting them. I think what you may be seeing is the conservatives going 'underground". Some of the loudest Trump supporters on my Facebook (they were antimaskers, anti vaccinations, etc) have stopped posting. I think the “coup” scared them, and they are on whatever the follow on network to Parler is, conspiracy theory-ing their hearts out. Just not being public about it, so the media has moved on and the middle “normal” public is fine taking them and moving on to a post Covid world? I still see some of it of people suspicious of the vaccine but it is more of a, I’m going to take it in 6 months when I see what other side effects come out, which is normal in my book

As with other parts of the pandemic response, the United States lags behind other parts of the world when it comes to masks. Several Asian countries, including Singapore and South Korea, have mass-produced high-quality masks to send directly to residents.

One reason might be that the N95s only protect you, not others, so you have to wear a second mask over to contain your own particles. That’s been the rule in San Mateo since June I think.

That’s exactly what’s happening in America. Meanwhile, people think they are better informed than ever. It’s pretty sad.
Biden is still in his honeymoon period in office. People tend to give him to benefit of the doubt. Wait a few months and people will start being more critical of him.
But remember almost everything that came out of Trump’s mouth in the last four years was a lie. it reminds me of the saying if you tell the same lie often enough people will start believing it. At least Biden has promised to be honest with the American people.

From the party that says we trust science and data. What they really mean is trust the data we give you which is bogus. Turns out a huge part of NY’s issue with covid was incompetence of their own leadership.
