Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

I have being avoiding Covid-19 vaccine discussions and arguments. People are going to believe what they believe. They are not going to listen to common sense or have normal discussion. And many believe data is faked or manipulated by government or drug company. So to me, it is pointless to even have a dialog.

Anyways, with 5-11 year old now available for vaccine and I have kid in this age range, I got a lot of unwanted texts and advice about vaccine in the past 2 weeks. A lot of misinformation on the web. I always try to look up the data and fact check their claim. And none of their claim passes the sniff test.

I received this table that implies there are there are more COVID-19 deaths from people who are vaccinated.

I suspected this data doesn’t show the # of people in each group (the denominator). I actually have to search for this and found the source. It is from UK government.

Page #20 is source of this data. On page 22 is the table with rate. It’s very odd why they present the data like this. It is easy for others to take this data and purposely misinterpret the data.

Here is another one. I only watched 1st minute. I didn’t continue with the rest. I don’t need to fact check this. Data doesn’t equal causation. But that is what this video try to imply.

The plague had a fatality rate of 66%

You need to be 65+ before you have a >1% fatality rate for covid.

The upshot of those charts seems to be that if you are under 60 and healthy your chance of dying from COVID is infinitesimal whether you are vaccinated or not.

Lots of useful information here. England has a nearly 90% vaccination rate - and look at how they’re doing compared to the first wave.

But it does go to show that there’s a price to pay when you introduce a “vaccine” which suppresses the disease but not the infection. We can only hope that this approach doesn’t facilitate newer more deadly strains.

Twitter thread on the new variant. Not looking good.

Pfizer says they just need 6 weeks in total to make the vaccine for new variant though.

True, they can make new vaccines fast. But FDA and CDC will just sit on them for months and not doing anything. We just got around to vaccinating kids two full years after the initial outbreak, even though vaccines have been available for almost that long.

If this thing is as mean as it looks we are in for a rough ride. Hopefully 3 doses of the old vaccine still put up a good fight against the new variant.

What is the death rate from omicron? What I read is very fast spread.

Also, what about mutations in areas other than the spike protein? It makes sense that that would be the most mutated part because that’s what we’re vaccinating for but herd immunity is playing a larger and larger role.

Is it true that half of the hospitalized patients of covid in Australia are vaccinated. Can you sue pfizer? Why was pfizer given immunity? crony socialism.

Australia has pushed people really hard to get vaccinated - getting close to a Communist country. Makes sense that what’s left is vaccinated breakthrough cases.

Additional info- he’s a nurse practitioner with PhD and not an actual doctor

Right - Thanks for the clarification.

He’s generally really good about saying what he does and doesn’t know. Since he taught nurses for many years, he has a lot of experience with best practices in that area, and when explaining research papers, he’ll point it out when he doesn’t necessarily know something in depth enough to comment.

I like his videos a lot since he goes over research papers and tries to put them into laymen’s terms, and goes over what you should get out of a research paper when reading it, as well as an understanding of the difference between “this is just a preprint” vs. very prestigious journals etc.

His bio:
"My name is John Campbell and I am a retired Nurse Teacher and A and E nurse based in England. I also do some teaching in Asia and Africa when time permits. These videos are to help students to learn the background to all forms of health care. My PhD focused on the development of open learning resources for nurses nationally and internationally. "
