Coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 Covid-19

Within California. Warm weather didn’t save San Diego.

Timing seems perfect actually. One month earlier, people would’ve said it wasn’t needed.

Restaurants are allowed to stay open as long as it’s just take-out or delivery:

" Restaurants and other facilities that prepare and serve food, but only for delivery or carry out. Schools and other entities that typically provide free food services to students or members of the public may continue to do so under this Order on the condition that the food is provided to students or members of the public on a pick-up and take-away basis only. Schools and other entities that provide food services under this exemption shall not permit the food to be eaten at the site where it is provided, or at any other gathering site;"

US to hit 5k tomorrow. Italy is still a train wreck. Don’t see much curve bending there. What’s happening in Spain?

It will slow down a bit maybe the lockdown and ppl scare , but once number flattens a little company will kick ppl back to work and ppl will go back on street without protection, all over again and again…

Italy’s deaths are rising much faster than china’s.

That’s because they are denying care to people over 80 or that score above 5 on a pre existing condition test. They don’t have space, so the oldest and sickest don’t get treated.

They haven’t done that yet. It’s a proposal if the incoming rate continues

SF’s order bans inviting non-household members over for dinner. Walks in the outdoor is fine but must maintain 6-foot distance. Hard to have do that with small kids…

Countries across the world observed dramatic rises in COVID-19 cases and deaths in March 2020. In the United States, delays in the availability of diagnostic testing have prompted
questions about the extent of unobserved community transmission. Using a simulation model
informed by reported cases and deaths, we estimated that tens of thousands of people
(median: 22,876, 95% posterior predictive interval: 7,451 - 53,044) were infected by the time a
national emergency was declared. Our results also indicate that fewer than 10% of locally
acquired, symptomatic infections in the US were detected throughout much of late February.
These results point to the need for immediate, large-scale efforts to mitigate the impacts of
SARS-CoV-2 on the US.

The best summary of everything we know about the virus so far, from a Stanford professor.

I am finally convinced eating buffet is a very bad idea… I bet even germaphobes like @harriet can’t follow all his suggestions.

“Some countries have given up.”
