We have way more deaths coming from existing cases. There is a lag between cases and deaths…mean time between initial symptoms and death is about 3 weeks I believe.
So no need ventilators. Breath on your own, ventilators lure you into slow death.
And no air-con!
Wow, so lousy logistics. Only statements of what to do but didn’t think through the whole end2end process. In Singapore, all positives are hospitalized. Serious - stay in infectious disease centre. Less serious - stay in selected hospitals. Mild - isolation facilities such as government-owned resort chalets. Everything FREE . If employed, continue to get paid and government reimbursed employers.
I had them for years. When you’re that big you have lots of both good and bad. It can be OK if you find the right doc. They are very conservative but the fact is most ailments fix themselves in time. But actually, when I tore my ACL, surgery was recommended (replacement with cadaver ACL - standard) but the physical therapists gave me a regimen that built enough muscle mass around the knee that I didn’t need it. ACL is still torn but I can cover 20 miles in a day over steep, loose terrain pain free.
I was in Kaiser during the 1989 quake. I was seriously ill. I remember my nurse running out screaming that she had to go home and check
on her kids. I walked around the hallways with my IV rack looking for cracks with the maintenance guy. It was a scary time. Going to be a lot worse now.
I’m a sunlight fan; I don’t take D supplements.
An interesting “fun fact” is that in winter, when you get less sun, Chanterelle mushrooms are in season. They are a rich source of vitamin D. One of things I miss about La Honda is folks coming into Apple Jacks in winter and selling wild Chanterelles cheap for beer money.
Live in the county. No riots and very little chance of CV or any other nasty easily communicable disease. And if being armed makes you feel better - go for it. No politicians closing the gun stores.
I think is localized. Plenty of hospitals and medical centers in Austin, no issue. I think I mentioned a few times, is one of the reason why I prefer Austin. Median age of Austin is 31.8 So not much competition for elderly.
