Election Poll

'Woodfill has been a part of a battery of court challenges over moves to expand voting options during the COVID-19 pandemic. The challenges have not involved Trump’s campaign."

Too bad it’s standard Trump org arguments of arguing it’s dark during daytime. Most states can’t start counting till polls close. It’s normal for counting to stretch past election day, and this year will last longer. in fact in states where there is a lot of mail in votes (e.g. CA, it takes weeks to count). The trump org has been telegraphing their plan to delegitimize votes with the following tactics:

  • Fight the ability to move to a more universal mail in balloting / voting system (such as what Washington / California uses)
  • Mess up the USPS so that they cannot deliver ballots in time or return completed ballots (we are now down 40% on time delivery in some counties)
  • Try to get rules changed at the last minute (e.g. Wisconsin where when ballots were mailed out, it was acceptable to count the ballots as long as they were mailed by polling day, but last week they moved in a republican friendly court to change the rules to only count the votes that were received by polling day)
  • Now plan to declare victory on election night (even when most of the votes are not counted as early votes would slant democratci) before counting is completed

I guess when you are losing, only cheating is left.

When has his arguments ever made sense?

Also since the Texas Supreme Court (who are all republicans shot down this beyond the pale voter suppression scheme), I wonder how he’s going to reconcile his arguments.

What’s your threshold for how much fraud is acceptable vs. objectionable? No one is going to claim all 127,000 are fraud.

I’m sure many people must have already seen this interview.

But throwing this out there for some fun before the real results come in tomorrow.

I’ll settle for…

?
So we should move to a system that takes weeks to count?

it doesn’t need to take as long as it does with the appropriate automation / digitization. Other countries with universal vote by mail systems can be done in days. Or maybe we should be moving to a digital voting scheme as far as possible secured by a blockchain mechanism with verified identities and only use manual processes for those who are unable to have digital access.

Or maybe we should just show up and vote or cast our ballots at the registrar’s office. A lot harder to hack things that way.

CNN is laughable these days. Anyone who claims they are objective is laughable.

It’s fine to run against the Democrats. Election is a contest of ideas. Let voters’ voice be heard.

It’s not fine to run against democracy.

And that doesn’t work so well when we have seen countless cases where attempts have been consistently made to make voting harder for partisan purposes in order to depress voter turnout by targeting operating hours of polling booths, number of polling locations, distance of polling locations to the voter and last but not least the fact that the US is one of the few nations where you don’t have a day off to vote. How many people can afford to spend hours in line (if they are in one of the locations where their voting is being suppressed) if they don’t get the day off to vote.

You make everything democratic by making it a level playing field

America is a republic, not a democracy.

Right, so dead people still being registered to vote is democracy. Got it.

People should stop expecting the results to be available that night. I actually think it’s appropriate not to start counting or announcing results before election day. The latter being of more concern. I think everyone should vote and then see what happens, not be swayed by what the numbers are as they go.

Of course. Because bodyless souls are people too…

Maybe you just leave a pen and the ballot by grandma’s bones and hope it moves itself… :stuck_out_tongue:

Come one, those have to be edited spoofs. There’s no way those are real.
