Election Poll

Normally, I agree with you, but in this case, it is absolutely not their job to face a mob. Being heard means one person talking at a time, not an armed occupation of the Congress’ floor. As a government official, they have a responsibility to protect themselves as well. If any of them had died, it would escalate tensions across the US and show weakness to the rest of the world. Furthermore, it would allow governors to appoint unelected people to their position which is not a democracy. It seems to me that clearing the floor was the first thing that the capitol police did right.

What kind of damning evidence you got in your laptop Nancy?

For everyone outraged about the Capitol occupation… What was your view of the siege and occupation of the Wisconsin state Capitol in 2011 by union thugs?

Hundreds flooded the Capitol and occupied the building around the clock for nearly a month — moving in with pillows and blankets — turning the statehouse into a congested maze of protesters, lawmakers, lobbyists and reporters. At times, the crowds grew so large that Capitol staff worried the building’s upper levels might collapse under the weight of so many people.

The large protests lasted nearly a month, but in some way never ended. Nearly seven years later, small groups of protesters still gather in the Capitol rotunda or on its lawn every day at noon to sing songs of protest against the governor.

Uhm. I guess Wisconsin doesn’t matter to me.

Sorry Wisconsin.

Impeaching or 25th amendment is the best thing that can be done in the favour of Trump. He will emerge a martyr for a cause. And probably will be remembered for a long time to come by those who follow him.

The liberal media sympathy for the unions and BLM has totally changed the narrative. They are called freedom fighters and the Trumpers are called white nationalists and terrorists.
Kamala has made it clear. BLM trashing city hall is ok and should be condoned. Supporters of Trump should be shunned and imprisoned.
If the progressives don’t listen to the concerns of the 74m, this country will be torn apart.

And even more important, Pence and a bunch of others would show some spine.

I think most people are against any rioting.

But there are differences in magnitude of these events and also who supports them.

These people are trying to disrupt the process of certifying a democratic and free election.

They are encouraged by the President and other Republicans.

The issues they are protesting are essentially unfounded.

This is an order of magnitude worse than antifa protests.

That’s what the new Alaska rules on open primaries and ranked choices do. Murkowski can finally become the indie she always wanted to be.

I can sense the desperation in the incoming administration and the big tech. The same desperation I have been sensing in California before a giant exodus actually started and got noticed to be covered by mainstream media. Desperation is generally a sign of fear and weakness, Not a sight of strength. Now I am unable to think what they are afraid of now that they have the white house, senate, and house, acquired by whatever means. Left has full control of California too.

One thing that I am also trying to understand is whether the left (represented by the likes of Pelosi), actually afraid of Trump, or the 74 Million people who support him. Who is she really afraid of ? One Trump can be impeached, but can the same be done to 74 Millions ?

I agree that his supporters are more terrifying than he is. There is only so much that one man can do on his own. The same can be said for Hitler or Mussolini. The culture that put them in power is ultimately more terrifying than the ruler.

And how about the Dem crazies who invaded the House during the Kavanaugh hearings?
Nary a squeak about that.

Typical NBC. The dems incited the attack by failing to address the people’s concerns (and many other attacks over the last 4 years). Trump told the protesters to go home. So now she wants to impeach him when he has 13 days left to go. After already impeaching him over a false narrative.
These are the folks now in charge of a country reeling from a pandemic and the resulting economic chaos. God help us.

C’mon man!

I don’t think that Trump represents the Republican party or that the Republican party is Trump. I think he definitely has followers. And if he says he’s part of the party of green flamingos, they will say they are green flamingos too. But the Republican party is not, IMO, the party of Trump. He wasn’t Republican until he ran for office. He ran on a platform that catered to concerns that Republicans because it was expedient to him.

The Senators and everyone around him walk on eggshells. He sh*ts on them, their families, and denegrates them in front of them. They keep walking on eggshells. Somehave the guts to quit. Maybe those who don’t quit are worried about pissing off his following. But I don’t think his following is 78M people nor is it a significant part of the Republican party. It is a minority. There are a lot of Christians, businessmen, and conservatives who tolerated his behavior because he got things done for them. But what’s happening right now is beyond what they signed up for. I think it’s highly misleading to say he has the support of 78M people. Many of those voted for him this time just like they voted for him before – because it was a choice of two evils and a vote against the Democrats, not a vote FOR Trump.

I hope in two years at the next election, the country can get past all of this crap. Unfortunately, I think the first thing that will have to happen is for there to be a squashing of unruly protests. There’s a fine line between peaceful protest and rioting, and it’s been ending up in the rioting zone way too much recently. I hope we can rediscover civil discourse and debate. Perhaps it could start on the university campuses that have been teaching kids that protesting is an effective means for change and permeate through a new generation, and they could start teaching how to have real dialogue instead and listening to people whose opinions they don’t like instead of occupying the lecture halls and getting speakers cancelled. What started on university campuses has now moved into the Capitol halls.

:+1: Don’t think @manch said that. Some1 here keeps assuming that.

I have always wanted to know how many are real Trumpsters. I urge Trump to set up a new political party.

I guess what I want to say is that there is a huge difference between followers and voters. Many Republicans who voted for Trump are NOT followers. They are simply voters, and they are not necessarily being disenfranchised by Biden being sworn into office.
