Everything About Electric Vehicles

The auto industry is beginning to crank out more electric vehicles (EVs) to challenge Tesla, but there’s one big problem: not enough buyers.

Why it matters: The growing mismatch between EV supply and demand is a sign that even though consumers are showing more interest in EVs, they’re still wary about purchasing one because of price or charging concerns .

“There isn’t a good software tool that helps EV owners plan their trips.”

So just buy a gas car and forget all that nonsense.

“All four of Tesla’s vehicles had the smallest range degradation, but they also had the widest gap between their real-world range and the EPA’s estimates. Part of the reason for their resistance to range loss may be because of their heat pumps, Recurrent’s CEO Scott Case told AutoNews. They’re apparently much more efficient at cooling than standard automotive air conditioners.”

Losing less range in hot weather is hardly a benefit when your 320 mile range car is already getting just 200 miles on a full charge.

The coastguard said on its website the cause of the fire was unknown, but a coastguard spokesperson had earlier told Reuters it began near an electric car.

EV’s MAY save you money on maintenance (or not compared to Japanese gas cars) but they don’t save you money on fuel.

Basically got $15k off for my Uncle’s new EV. This doesn’t even include the federal tax credit or this new charge card. He’s going to pick it up this Thursday.

@manch will hate this but He got a Tesla 3

It’s a good time to get an EV for a “lower-middle-income” family in CA.

I don’t “hate” Tesla. I only hate Elon’s constant lies on FSD. Tesla is still the only company that can make EV’s cheaply at scale. And we do need to phase out gas cars for environmental and political reasons.

What are the political reasons?

.

I don’t know what @manch has in mind. The well-documented reason is reduced oil dependent because the bulk of the oil fields are in unfriendly nations.

Answer to that is simple. Use our own oil and oil from friendly nations. Increase output and decrease the worldwide price to stick it to all those unfriendly nations.

Our oil can never compete with the Saudis on price. It cost them just $10 to produce a barrel. The US shale oil cost of production is many times that.

US shale oil is cost competitive only when there is more demand than supply.
