High crime areas in California

Gas theft hasn’t been a problem here in AZ. Too many armed people.

I have friend who was sleeping years ago in his boat outside a bar in the delta, woken by a guy trying to siphon gas.
The guy caught stealing gas from the boat said … you’re rich you have a boat. Pretty much the attitude of liberals in the government.

[Oakland Cannabis Sellers, Once Full of Hope, Face a Harsh Reality]()

The cannabis industry, designed in part to help communities upended by the war on drugs, is being threatened by theft, racism and a market that is stacked against small operators.

Petty Thieves Plague San Francisco. ‘These Last Two Years Have Been Insane.’

Small-business owners have been hit particularly hard by additional security and repair costs

Among the 25 largest U.S. cities, San Francisco has had the highest property-crime rate in four of the most recent six years for which data is available, bucking the long-term national decline in such crimes that began in the 1990s. Property crimes declined in San Francisco during the first year of the pandemic, but rose 13% in 2021. Burglaries in the city are at their highest levels since the mid-1990s. There were 20,663 thefts from vehicles last year—almost 57 a day—a 39% increase from the prior year, although still below the record of 31,398 in 2017, according to the police.

Another drop in the vast ocean :ocean:

How did we get to a point where letting criminals just get away with stuff is considered “reform?”

That’s the only way to make it so prisons demographics match the US demographics. Since people assume all groups commit crimes at equal rates, so prisons should have the same demographics as the country. One look at homicide stats would show people that ~50% of homicides are committed by one minority group. Interestingly enough, they make up 40% of the prison population. People claim that’s racist since they are only 14% of the population. Approaching criminal justice issues expecting equal outcomes based on race is such an emotional and illogical thing that it can’t be debated.

Amid Attacks and Thefts, Some Retail Workers Want to Fight Back

Assaults at stores have been increasing at a faster pace than the national average. Some workers are tired of fearing for their safety.

We spent the last half of 2020 letting mobs loot with impunity, we practically de-criminalized theft in big cities and now some folk are wondering why this sort of behavior is coming to be seen as acceptable.

LA must be getting worse. I’m not at all surprised by the Seattle closings. There will be more flight to the suburbs, because Seattle has zero political will to deal with crime.

Looks more like union busting scare tactic. Will wait for detailed article about sudden safety issue in all these stores.

Starbucks to close six Los Angeles-area stores it calls 'unsafe to continue to operate'.

The Seattle ones are in the red. That part of Seattle has turned into a total dump. I’m not familiar enough with LA.

The officers arrived to find the alleged thief at the scene of the crime, learned he was on probation for a previous theft and then let him walk off, car jack in hand — even giving him directions to the nearest bus stop.’

What is going on? The arrogance of the voters of SF who elect such politicians and indirectly nominate such police officers and tactics amaze me.
