Correct, even with superior system than LIDARs, Tesla ends up with crashes. If Tesla uses Lidars, it will end up more accidents, right?
Remember, even with well known world famous Boeing ends up with crashes.

@manch just doesn’t know anything. He should know that lifes will be taken away with the development of any new technology. Many people died from car crashes when the automobile was first invented. But that didn’t stop people from getting rid of their horses.

Tesla doesn’t have a superior system. All the other self driving systems have cameras and lidars. Tesla’s only has cameras. So its algorithm must compensate for the lack of one important category of input.
Consensus among AI experts is that lidars is necessary to achieve level 3 and above autonomy. Elon Musk didn’t outfit his cars with lidars because of cost, that’s it.
So what. Even without Litard, AV is still much safer than a human being driving. So it makes sense. Maybe all these others companies trying to create that perfect system will fail due to prohibitive cost and only Tesla will succeed.
