Literally and Seriously

A war = fiscal stimulus to the economy & a rally around the flag effect. He will try to start a war in an attempt to ensure his re-election.

You realize that Obama had a democrat controlled congress his first two years, right? He did one stimulus bill then focused on Obamacare instead of further legislation to turn around the economy. It led to democrats getting killed in midterm elections. By the white house’s own math, the stimulus created or saved 1 job per $400k spent. It wasn’t effective and was mostly a waste of tax payer money. There’s a reason that plan led to a slow recovery vs our more typical response of lowering marginal tax rates.

TARP had a much bigger impact on things. It allowed us to stabilize the banks. It’s the money eventually used to bailout GM. It even turned a profit for tax payers.

If we keep talking about the war option it will be less likely to happen. So by all means keep the pressure on.

Right. That bill was a mistake. It was way too small. They over-promised and under-delivered. Should have gone for bigger. Way bigger.

If people are going to accuse you of being a Keynesian anyway you may as well go all the way.

Let’s hope so. War war war war. Did i jinx it.

No seriously. I hope I am wrong and just need to start wearing a tinfoil hat. But, all the talks about radical islamic terrorists & attacks that happened but the evil media hid them, has me thinking he is just looking to rally supporters behind a battle.

I am worried too. This article warmed my heart today.

This passage is very powerful. People hate because they never had contact with the other side:

Time to take to recover, and how deep is the recession. Fed and President want to reduce the depth and shorten the time of the recession which of course mean lower unemployment and shorter duration of being unemployed. With no intervention, recession can stay quite long and deep, and unemployment can stay pretty high for a long time.

Bagb it’s like you speak so much truth and then start talking nonsense. Absolutely trump is trying to distract everyone. But he doesn’t care about fallout, and you can’t dismiss the fallout created by his ban and the reality that the EO banned immigrant visas. Only rolled back due to courts.

Should I post the video of Obama laughing as he said the jobs weren’t as shovel ready as they thought? $400k/job. Go ahead and do the math on how much we’d needed to spend to get back to pre recsssion job levels. Meanwhile, $85k of GDP growth creates 1 job. Since WW2, cutting tax rates has led to 4%+ GDP growth every time. We’d have gotten far more job creation from tax cuts than stimulus spending. Also, every time we cut taxes GDP grows fast enough tax revenue increases. That means no deficit increase vs the stimulus which added to the deficit.

Just to note: Bush tax cuts and his war actions made a biggest mess of this century 2008 downturn !

Trump’s corp tax cut is good for companies and personal tax cut good for individuals. I personally like corporate and individual tax cuts as Democrats (both state and central) keep on adding taxes forever.

But we eventually going to have a downturn again at the end of Trump’s era.

On investment side, well regarded Klamann’s message on Trump’s plan. This is private letter.

He is one of the best investment manager, even appreciated by Warren Buffet.

"The Trump tax cuts could drive government deficits considerably higher,” Mr. Klarman wrote. “The large 2001 Bush tax cuts, for example, fueled income inequality while triggering huge federal budget deficits. Rising interest rates alone would balloon the federal deficit, because interest payments on the massive outstanding government debt would skyrocket from today’s artificially low levels.”

Much of Mr. Klarman’s anxiety seems to emanate from Mr. Trump’s leadership style. He described it this way: “The erratic tendencies and overconfidence in his own wisdom and judgment that Donald Trump has demonstrated to date are inconsistent with strong leadership and sound decision-making.”

He also linked this point — which is a fair one — to what “Trump style” means for Mr. Klarman’s constituency and others.

“The big picture for investors is this: Trump is high volatility, and investors generally abhor volatility and shun uncertainty,” he wrote. “Not only is Trump shockingly unpredictable, he’s apparently deliberately so; he says it’s part of his plan.”

While Mr. Klarman clearly is hoping for the best, he warned, “If things go wrong, we could find ourselves at the beginning of a lengthy decline in dollar hegemony, a rapid rise in interest rates and inflation, and global angst."

2001 was when we said tax rates would be lowered in future years. 2003 was when they immediately lowered the rates to get the economy going. 2004 tax revenue was higher than 2003. You can’t blame the deficit in tax rates.

It’s funny you think income inequality is better now despite a record number on food stamps and the lowest labor force participation since WW2.

Klarmann is one of the best ! His evaluations are accurate but limited within his company and mainly for his investments.

He didn’t say what he did with his investment. Buy, sell or hold?

People like Icahn or Warren buffet or Klarmann, they won’t say or they are not allowed to say as they handle people fund. Since they hold big amount, they may be considered as insider.

When they file Sec doc Form-13 (I think), news/media publish it. This is the way we come to know about Buffet’s stake on AAPL. When it is public, when media asks question, they confirm.

If you pretend to be an American, I have bad news for you. You are as ignorant as any illegal coming yesterday to this country. Thank your God for me going to sleep now. I will address you whenever I have time. You are a little bit too ignorant on the constitution to my taste.

Folks, be civil and respectful in our discussion. Don’t get overly personal.

Ignore!

Sorry manch, but I have followed this person and anything and everything is discriminatory per your own history of you guys not liking any criticism of your Chinese heritage.
I think I know this …lady? She has a relentless hatred for “latinos”. If I am not mistaken, she has had that attitude brewing since she started in the other Redfin forum. I may be wrong, but I have read her comments, and in so many of them the word Latino is similar to crime or something bad. Then, s/he complains of racism or discrimination because I parroted the words of a native American saying his own sons thus Americans are lazy? But here she is, parroting “latinos” here, Latinos there in a way of criminalizing our way of living. Are you kidding me?

I know you guys get mad when I mentioned Chinese here and there to make a point, but this person is not only ignorant with regards to our constitution with her relentless questioning or crying of “well, how come this, how come that”? I can sense her hatred for all other races but hers, for which I know she can’t tell us where she is from. We would like to have some fun if she did, don’t we?

Assuming this posters is a she, I can tell her she is ignorant about illegal immigration.

She said: 50% of California’s population is illegal directly and indirectly. Did she mean the illegal population for which doesn’t make sense at all because they are all illegals, right? So, half Californians are illegal? Oh boy!

She said: Stop sanctuary cities and deportation in one phrase. What does she want to stop? Sanctuary or deportation or both?

I am going to give her a lesson on illegal immigration:
Only an ignorant on the subject can point at “Latinos” for the cause of that type of immigration. I can bring you Google links to show you that through that border many Chinese, Asians in general, Europeans, you name the race or nationality, millions have made it through and some, like me, have become a proud Americans disregarding the illegal entry. Have you ever heard of an immigration raid in China town? Oh boy! It would send flares up on the sky! They would call that discriminatory! But let’s forget about that for a minute.

There are 2 types of “illegal immigration”. Those entering illegally, and those overstaying their visas. Amd most overstayers come with a full knowledge that they will stay no matter what. I believe, those immigrants are more of a subject for more punishment than those who willingly, and perhaps forcibly have jumped the fence to survive and make a living in this once great country that now is being divided by the racist and petulant guy in the white house.

If you think, assume, that because you are a Chinese, or a Japanese, or European, this administration won’t touch you, you are in for a surprise. It only takes an incident, for what we know is happening, where the idiot in the white house will say something to the dignitary of any other country, he or she replies in a not civil manner as this tyrant to put you and the likes of you in a watch list and probably, you never know, in a deportation list. You just don’t get it, do you?

Lastly, if I am not wrong, 12% of active members in the army are Latinos. Many of them, proud born Americans, children of millions of illegal parents. Do yourself a favor, before you berate a race or nationality, show your patriotism and enlist your kid in the army. Then, you can go to bed quietly and comfortably, knowing that somebody you hate is protecting your coward attitude in your sleep.

Now, be proud of your side killing political correctness. How come you don’t like anything to be told “as it is”? Ask your president why that thin skin.

When I discuss policies, I would think from the point of the country, not from personal circumstances. In the grand scheme of things, personal circumstances including my own situation, is not a major concern. What matters is the major issues at the macro level. I may support a policy that hurts my personal interest if it benefits the whole country.

I will ignore all personal attacks and insults and let those attacks and insults go back to its source. Some posts or posters will be forever ignored if they are not worth it
