Malaysia is the Best Place to Retire

Man, the independent senior living resort mentioned is not bad at all. Say, by the time, you need it, maybe $2,500 or say $3,000/mo. That is a bargain compared to here at $10,000 plus for something equivalent!!!

Come on, Fearless Leader, come join me in Penang. EVERYONE is coming!!!

My tenant probably shouldn’t tease me with these views that I will be taking over perhaps next year…

Was at a reptile show in Phoenix. Someone was selling mounted bugs. Here’s one from Malaysia with my glasses hanging off the frame for scale.

I was born and raised in Hong Kong, in the same part of the world as Penang.

It sucks. I much prefer San Francisco.

No wonder the food is so tasty and cheap there… LOL

Split the year/time is all I ask…

I can take Arizona heat only because the humidity is so low (10-25% RH where I live most of the time).
Same temps at 80% RH just floor you. By 11am you’re done. Like in Bali. Drink beer someplace with AC then crash in the afternoon. Go out at night. Fun for a couple weeks but I’m too old to live like that every day.

Even San Jose is too hot for me now in the summer. Used to be OK there without an AC but now it’s unlivable without one. SF weather is just perfect for me.

Asia’s weather all sucks, unless you go up high in the mountains. From Tokyo in the north to Singapore in the south summer’s temperature are about the same.

I still have Penang friends on Facebook and from their pictures that place seems frozen in time. Looks largely the same from 20 years ago when I last visited.

This SINGAPOREAN and his wife live where??? Penang!!!

Singaporeans in legal dispute over Johor condo purchases

They were shocked when they found out they had bought the homes under a scheme called a private lease scheme (PLS) which says they are buying a lease for 99 years. This is more like a rental agreement under which they do not actually own the property.

These type of issues are nothing new. What new is these buyers didn’t do DD about past issues of buying Malaysian properties. Older Singaporeans knew the potholes and mines.

Well, just wait until the fast train is up and running between countries. I really do believe it will be a game changer for JB.

This video is for Singapore-born Singaporeans.
AFAIK, many Malaysian-born PRs and citizens own Malaysian properties… these guys know the game as opposed to many ignorant Singapore-born Singaporeans.

@sfdragonboy / @hanera Malaysia and Singapore experts, our family, 2 adults and 2 kids are thinking of spending 6 weeks in Singapore and Malaysia (probably Penang) maybe 3 weeks each in June/July 2025. Is AirBnB the best option for 2-3 weeks stay?

That is, staying in AirBnB in Singapore is complicated. When in Singapore, I either stay with my mom or hotel.

Its probably the most cost effective way vs say staying at a resort type of place. Even though Penang technically bans Airbnb there are grandfathered service type of hotels/apt buildings that are allowed to still airbnb out.

I would stay in the Gurney or Straits Quay area if you like to hang out with the Chinese and Hong Kongers and like things close by. If you want more remote, beachy area then that is my neighborhood of Batu Ferringhi in the north.

Thanks both, we just want a little bit more space like living rooms and fridge etc. I’ll do more research

.

Personally, I prefer serviced apartment. I don’t like to engage in “legal” workaround for AirBnB.
