Here’s latest forecast showing impact of S.F.’s troubled office market on property tax revenues

This is America. Where one does not need to be smart or talented to get rich. Just controversial.

What, this couldn’t happen in Detroit, MI??? LOL

I think that’s the key difference between SF and Oakland. There’s a large tech professional class here in SF. While in Oakland it’s just anarchists making trouble.

There’s still a small number of far leftists in the city blocking progress. Hopefully we will have them voted out this year.

It’s a movement that’s starting to gain momentum. $15 minimum wage is child’s play. Let’s go for $50.

All this does is either (1) increase your restaurant bill to $100 at McDonalds (soon) or (2) close that McDonalds…

How about we add a zero behind every dollar bill? That way $1 becomes $10, $5 becomes $50… everyone is 10x richer instantly. Problem solved.

Miami as a tech hub is always a ridiculous idea. Now even the haters have to come crawling back to SF.

Downtown SF is too office centric. Unlike NYC we don’t have residential buildings in downtown so it’s mostly dead after 6pm even in the best of days. A good model is Dogpatch and Hayes Valley. We need a healthy mix of shops, restaurants, residential and office spaces.

“Problems are not dissimilar from other major urban areas on the West Coast.” Do people stop to think about why these problems are so bad on the West Coast compared to the rest of the country? I guess people just accept it as the cost of progress and living in a liberal utopia.

Property crime down 32% YoY and violent crime down 11%. SF is making a lot of progress.

The SAD part is, there is actually some otherwise smart people on here who thought that the Fab 7x7 would actually become a Detroit for good. If they just know a smiggen of the history of the Fab 7x7, this is ROUTINE evolution of the city. We simply have the old money and the connections!!!

OMG, the NBA All-Star Game is coming next year to the Chase Center!!! More publicity!!!

Once all those OpenAI employees sell some sweet stock to buy some real estate around here, watch out!!!

FACT: someone looked at my Fremont house who has Nvidia shares…

Statistically, this is the truth. Rest is all anecdotal mumbo jumbo.

Commercial real estate company Savills says office availability in San Francisco is now 36.7%, which means more than one out of every three offices is vacant right now.

In Silicon Valley, it’s 27.5%.

So despite the occasional headline and celebrating anytime a lease is signed, the vacancy rate is still increasing. Only looking at a single variable is dangerous.
