San Francisco Is The Place To Be

Meh, the Fab 7x7 can not be beat!!!

Take that, Naysayers!!! I guess you missed out again for the umpteenth time!!! Sad…

More People Moved to San Francisco Than Anywhere in California (sfstandard.com)

Slicing and dicing incomes and “class” status in each state.
Fun fact - the two states with the highest numbers of people in the upper class are New York and Louisiana
I expected numbers for CA and AZ to be very different but was surprised to find out they aren’t - at least by the metrics being used.

Nice!!! We’ll take it!!!

Goodwin Gaw is convinced people must think he’s “an idiot” after he bought a foreclosed San Francisco office complex formerly owned by Blackstone Inc. for $82 million.

Roger Fields, who recently acquired a former Wells Fargo & Co. office at 550 California St. for $40.5 million, says you need a “cast-iron stomach” to buy in this market.

But for all the worries about a doom loop fueled by post-pandemic hybrid work, persistent homelessness and a fentanyl epidemic, San Francisco is once again attracting money. Powered by an AI boom and rebounding real estate demand, the city has halted years of population declines and is adding jobs.

Home sales jumped 22% in April to the highest monthly count since mid-2022, according to property brokerage Compass Inc. And after lagging badly last year in a closely followed measure of foot traffic, the city is now posting gains that place it in the top 10 nationwide.

Looks like many people are bottom fishing office CRE in SF. I wish I had the money to play. People in 2027 will look back at this period and say of course it’s obvious SF will bounce back. Just like people looked back at 2008 and say real estate was an obvious buy. They would have forgotten the reasons why they were bearish at the time.

Slowly, but surely, employers are calling back their employees. I heard my employer will ratchet it up from the longtime 2 days a month in to something probably like 1 day a week next year. Oh well, my retirement home beckons…

At 3300 Mission Street, San Francisco is funding “affordable housing” at a cost of $1.065 million per unit, and all the units are studios maxing out at 380 square feet. This the type of project the Bay Area will fund if voters approve MTC’s $20 billion bond.

I heard there is a heat wave today….

Chicken feet are my beginner level. I have had some snake soup. Hong Kong people drink a lot of soup, lol. Fried bugs and fish mint are the most difficult

Livermore broke its temperature record today.

Meanwhile in SF:

Maybe a record for July 7 but certainly not all time.

Vegas clocking in at 120 degrees today.

The population of Las Vegas has increased six fold since the 70’s so it’s not surprising that with all those new cars and additional concrete previous highs of 117 are being eclipsed by 3 degrees.
Still, the southwest is good and hot. I’ll hit 99 today at 6000 ft. Far from a record but still hot. Next weekend monsoon rains start cooling us down.

Something we definitely would not see in the Fab 7x7!!! We know what a Golden Goose (Tourism) looks like (and yes we almost fumbled it completely)!!!

Barcelona anti-tourism protesters fire water pistols at visitors | CNN

I’ll take a squirt gun over a busted window when I get back to my car any day. Especially if I don’t have to dodge feces and needles while I’m trying to dodge the squirt gun. Actually, as long as those squirt guns are loaded with water and not wine or coffee or cranberry juice or something else that stains it sounds kind of fun. Like a hunting trip only in Barcelona you’re the hunted. Situational awareness and guile are called for either way.
I wonder what the Barcelona equivalent of “camo” is - that is, dressing so they don’t know you’re a tourist? Sounds like a business opportunity for enterprising locals. I already have the tan from living in AZ. Do I need to dye my hair black? Or maybe just wait a few more years for it all to go grey before I visit?

Welcome Mrs. Jobs!!!

Apple’s ex design chief Jony Ive also lives in SF. There was news of Ive buying up multiple properties around town last year.
