I have been right on for over a year. RE is the best inflation hedge.
Boar’s Head deluxe low sodium roast beef went from $12 a pound to $17 a pound this year.
Anyone tracking McChicken sandwich? How can you guys forget the original inflation index of this forum?
Trying to get healthier… so staying away from fast food ![]()
Sausage McMuffin went from $1-$4 in two years.
This guy should be criminally prosecuted for profiteering in a pandemic. $96k fir a RAV4
Free market. Scarce goods go to the highest bidder. The alternative is shortages. We saw that with gasoline in the 70’s.
Got a call day before yesterday. My RAV 4 delivery date has been pushed up to Dec. 13-20.
You better hope a Californian doesn’t come and overbid on it.
My Highlander is a much bigger and better car for less money
I’m on two waiting lists for a Rav4 prime at msrp. Both are over 200 customers long so probably won’t hear anything until mid-2022. Not willing to pay a silly markup.
Also waiting on reservations for a Ford Lightning, Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck. I’ll take whichever one arrives first!
I will sell you my 2018 Highlander for $60k. Much better vehicle than a RAV4.
As much as I agree that a Highlander’s a better car, I won’t buy anything that can’t do at least 40 miles all electric new or used ever again. The only exception would be a classic sports car that only gets driven ~1000 miles/yr.
Why? He is free to ask any price he wants. And you are free to not accept the ask.
MSRP on a Highlander is about 35k. With markups these days I paid a few thousand under that considering tax and license. RAV 4 Hybrid is as much SUV as I need and gets 40 mpg. Midsize SUV with combined ICE/EV HP of about 220.
I am glad not to be in the market for an automobile at this time. Our vehicles are from model years 2016 and 2017 respectively, so hopefully will not need a new vehicle for next 5 years barring unforeseen circumstances
my 2002 Accord is doing just fine and is worth about $3500 (if one can find in market). Cars can last forever if you keep them up and running with regular maintenance ( by understanding and fixing the problem as they come).
Yes, agree. Ever since hearing about car prices shooting up so much, even for standard middle class cars like RAV4, I have become much more mindful about taking care of my cars and treating them well. Have always performed all the recommended maintenance - automobiles are now the most valuable things we own (apart from our homes and stock portfolios)
