At least short-term, they will. Long-term, it’ll lead to more automation and fewer fast food jobs.
This is almost equivalent of setting a 50% higher minimum wage for amazon or large retailers in favor of small shops. And then the wages go up perpetually with inflation. Similar with gas and rent control in CA, i.e. rents and gas tax goes up with inflation.
Remember what prices were before Amazon?
Not a free market anymore.
This would actually be a great outcome. We don’t want workers stuck in dead end low skill work. Automaton will usher in new types of work with higher skill demand that pays more.
In reality we will just have a much larger underclass than now. Millions of unskilled workers with no job prospects leading to more drug use homelessness crime hopelessness. Probably should be a tax on automation to support and train the workers displaced.

We are short on low skill workers. And we aren’t making enough babies so the next 10 or 20 years we will still be short. Only way out is automation. Lots of it.
There is a popular YouTube channel with a farm girl from the Midwest. Her video is about her driving an highly automated tractor with maybe 10 monitors while putting on her makeup. Just one girl is more productive than 100 men in the old days when everything was done by men and animals.
I’m confused. Earlier some ppl were saying fast food work is only for college ppl and it shouldn’t exist as a full time work. Now you guys saying if it’s removed there will be millions of homeless and drug problem?
What is the confusion again?
Is it a full time job or is it a job for college graduates?
It should not be a full time job for college graduates. It’s similar to don’t need Phd or Masters in Comp sci for full stack web dev.
Still don’t get the context+reason for the question.
Reason and context is if it isn’t a full time then why would automation lead to crime?
people could get minimum skills jobs(in fast food restaurants) who didn’t have other skills earlier. Now those jobs will go away.
Ok but why is the assumption that all those ppl will become criminals instead of being forced to upgrade skill?
We need vocational training. We don’t need more liberal arts degreed baristas. The hard part is retraining middle aged unemployed with lotsof debt, family obligations and low motivation

Should replace it with an iPad.
Why would those people accept minimum wage now when there’s a shortage of skilled workers? If they were capable and/or willing, then they’d already be upgrading their skills to make more money. The idea that if minimum wage jobs were gone, then people would just get higher paying jobs is not accurate. There’s already millions of higher paying jobs available, and the people aren’t up skilling for them.
There is a whole genre of “hot girls driving tractors” on YouTube. This one is from Italy. Her tractor doesn’t look as advanced as the Nebraska girl’s.
.
Soft porn?
I just look at the tractors.
