America is the best place to live.
Why? Because the guy who insists Singapore is good has his whole family living in America.
That means America > Singapore.
Case closed.

One more problem with you, always want to win. Not everybody thinks along this line. So when someone explain to you, is not wanting to “win” you nor challenging your boss status
Also, not everybody want to boss around or be boss around.
Also, have to cut n paste my response to @sfdragonboy
Ditto for countryside lifestyle, snowy lifestyle, holiday mood lifestyle, …
If you like to boss people around, being American is the best…
I just put more weight on what people actually do, versus what they preach.
Chinese have a saying: the mouth said no, but the body is honest.
You keep preaching how wonderful Singapore is, but you choose to spend you and your family’s lives here in America. That tells me America is a better place to live.
I agree.

He doesn’t want to admit that the cost of living there in Singapore has risen considerably. But you are right, I am always a believer in action speaks louder than words. I sold and left Oaktown. I got my Malaysia visa. And one day, I will send you all pics of my sea side condo from Malaysia. Count it!!!
@manch and @sfdragonboy
I am explaining the strengths of Singapore vs USA and you guys always turn it into a ranking exercise of where is the best place to live… Always want to compare but don’t seem to know how… you always have to start with the purpose and goal… what type of lifestyle do you want (preference)?
Did I? I say this type of complaints come and go… whenever there is inflation, people whine. For most Singaporeans, it is pretty decent place to live… if you (and Mr Loo) want to live in Bungalows (SFHs) then would be too expensive. If you’re talking about recent price rise in HDB… do the DD and you would realize is normal… too tired to always have to draw the intestines for people… with web, is easy to do DD.
Unless you guys drop the attitude of I must win, don’t want to be owned and keep doing ranking exercise, will not understand what other are saying.
This is too funny… coming from supposedly a country that is uber competitive!!! Oh, but like our Fearless Leader said, you ain’t Singaporian BY PRACTICE… LOL
Uh, whose bro-inlaw LIVES IN SINGAPORE AND OWNS A HDB???
Hard to believe still spell Singaporean wrong. SMH.
Look like you still don’t get it so I have to repeat… note city ≠ nation…
So you don’t know. Ask him about the 7 years itch.
I need to take a leaf from @Jil, tired of explaining. Last post on this topic. I have wasted enough time.
Bye, Fake SingaporEAN!!!
I’ve watched many of their Malaysia videos. I didn’t watch this one, but if the Malaysia ones were any indication, these cats cant afford to live in Singapore even if they loved it.
I prefer these kinds of videos that make me want to open up my wallet, but I am skeptical. They (agents) say the luxury market is booming but yet I see many listings…
This is what I have in mind when I talked about Singapore’s 3rd generation or 70-year test.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/interactive/2023/singapore-china-news-influence-lianhe-zaobao/
A 2022 survey of 19 countries by the Pew Research Center found that Singapore was one of only three that saw China and Xi in favorable terms. In June, the Eurasia Group Foundation released a survey conducted in Singapore, South Korea and the Philippines that found Singapore was the only one that viewed China more favorably than it did the United States. Fewer than half of respondents in Singapore viewed the United States favorably, compared with 56 percent who viewed China favorably.
“If too many Chinese Singaporeans are foolish enough to subscribe to Xi’s version of the ‘China Dream,’ the multiracial social cohesion that is the foundation of Singapore’s success will be destroyed,” said Bilahari Kausikan, a former permanent secretary of Singapore’s Foreign Ministry. “Once destroyed, it cannot be put together again.”
This is the big test I keep talking about. Singapore cannot sit on the fence. It can choose only one: America or China. It’s quite likely it will choose China and as a result everything it accomplished in the last 60 years will come undone. In that case it’s likely the Chinese Singaporeans will choose a ethnic Chinese strong man as leader, suppress the other racial minorities and destroy what little democracy and rule of law it currently has.
Big test ahead.
I ignore reporting by NYT and WP. These are liberal new site that always publish scared mongering articles. The choice of the word, “foolish”, is intentionally to create emotion. Did they interview a few ex-PS and only publish the one that use the word or they added it themselves? I don’t know how they do their survey, the profile of the people surveyed is critical to the outcome. 44 vs 56 is not that much difference… can easily change depending on who you ask. Btw, you have learned from these new site… writing in similar scared mongering style.
NYT and WP are reliable news outlets. They may frame stories in biased ways mostly thru their headlines and what they choose to highlight and what they deemphasize. But the news itself if people read beyond the headlines are solid. They don’t make stuff up.
People who complain just don’t like the realities conveyed in the news. They want alternative realities and fake news.
.
This is called lying or at best misleading They have also omitted key info. Info is incomplete yet you make deductions from those. See the problem there?
No news media is perfect and completely void of biases. That implies there is some gold standard where you measure biases against. No such standard exists. Choosing an angle to frame a story means all the other angles were not used. There is biases in every choices.
Big news outlet like NYT, WP and Reuters check their sources, don’t make stuff up, and overall quite careful with their facts. Not perfect of course but already miles ahead of random conspiracy websites that make shit up.

That’s applies to commentators too, right
