Everyone knows the food in Malaysia is better than in Singapore!!!

I’ll be in KL & Penang to see if that’s true or not. Are you in Penang or JB typically?

In terms of local food, Malaysia hands down. My bro-inlaw is married to a foodie Singapore woman and she readily gives Malaysia the nod. I am still in the US slaving away another year before heading to my seaview condo in Penang. Timing is perfect since my tenant’s lease is over in May, 2026. I am often in JB when going there since my mother and father inlaws are there. I feel you will find KL to be quite similar to Singapore. KL is just another concrete jungle, so has no appeal to me at all. Unfortunately, Penang is getting busy too, so good thing I am in the North where it is more remote.

Yes, Singapore is great IF you can afford it…

First of all, these are world beaters, they aren’t actually living amongst the masses in Singapore and driving themselves or buying groceries, right? They have people doing everything for them and probably they are traveling a lot. Quite a different lifestyle from the masses who are stressed out from work and rising costs.

AGAIN, my bro-inlaw lives in Singapore and owns a HDB and has a car (yes, the high COE) and he said he and his wife, a Singaporean native, would have moved to Malaysia a long time ago if NOT for their kids who “demanded” to stay. The fact is, across the border is no longer the stigma it once was. That is fact!!! And once the fast train is online, I suspect even more migration to Malaysia and beyond will happen.

Was in KL and now just got to Penang. 100% agree food is much bettet in Malaysia than Singapore or Bali (if thst matter). Things are quite cheap in KL and had great times at couple of nigtht market. Still exploring Penang. @sfdragonboy which part of Penang your condo is?

I am up in the North Shore coast area called Batu Ferringhi. Beachy, more quiet area although can be crowded during school holidays and tourist season due to 2 lane road up there. Check out the sunsets like this from my balcony from that beach there.

A famous Hong Kong actor was just there in Penang for the first time. He was quoted as falling in love with Penang too. Totally agree.

Just had dinner last night on the beach at Ferringhi Bay! Must have driven by your condo. Off to Tanjung Tokong for crab dinner today.
