I don’t get it. Can’t people just go in with handheld testers and measure it themselves? Is the area off limits? I mean, when Fukushima went bad, people were out there measuring radioactivity in rainfall and a couple of videos of Japanese shoppers using them to choose what fish to buy in Japanese markets. Should be 100 bloggers showing videos of them testing the area.

If I recall from the news story, a lot of it was still fenced off so yeah maybe not accessible by the public. But you are correct, why can’t the federal government simply go and do as you suggested?
