South Lake Tahoe prices going nuts

The big winners of Measure T… the hotels. They spent millions promoting the VHR ban. Pitted locals against partime owners. Created a civil war and distrust that will last for years. And came out winning like bandits. $1500/n for a hotel room.

Ready to be in Austin?

I am in Dallas for a few days now. Boy, is it hot here or what! Consistently in the 90s and even at 1 am its about 85. I am told this summer is milder and July/August are usually about 110 F.

Now is July. Come August then worry about it. This year, weather is surprisingly good compare to last year. Anyhoo, I don’t feel Austin is humid at all, remember is relative. I have always feel dry.

Get a second home. Stay away in August

How will the fire affect SLT real estate market?

Hard to say. If it burns the whole town, it would be a disaster. If only 250 homes burn like in the Angora fire it could be a boost. I am actually in contract on a condominium that is a good bread and butter investment. If it burns up it would be a disaster. No revenue for a year or two. But if a bunch of other houses burn there will be huge rental demand paid by insurance money. So far the fire fighting has been ineffective. Could increase insurance rates every where and lower prices. This week will be critical. The whole area is in evacuation warning mode.

Buy Tahoe at distress prices when no more homeless asking for free stay.

Full evacuation. But 50 is backed up. 5 hrs to get out of town

We evacuated to my friends house in Nevada. We got a warning at 10. Order at 11 . Left at 2:30. Only took an hour to get out.

Thanks for all your support. Hopefully they can stop the fire in Meyers. The wind died at 7pm

Be safe man. Hoping your properties come out of this unscathed.

We are praying for the best. But evacuation warnings keep extending north around the lake. Accepted firefighting methods seem ineffective. All at the mercy of the wind.

On Monday, propelled by strong winds, the fire crested a granite ridge that officials had hoped would serve as a natural barrier. Embers leapfrogged past firefighting crews and descended toward the valley floor just miles from South Lake Tahoe. By early Tuesday, the fire had taken hold in the Tahoe basin. Stands of pine ignited by flying embers were fully engulfed in flames, casting a bright orange glow into the night sky.

It was only the second time, officials said, that a wildfire that began on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada crossed into the eastern side. The first was also this summer: the Dixie fire, the second largest in California history. No deaths have been reported in either fire.
