SV Underpays Women In Stock Options Too According To Study

Didnt read the article, but women i work with are usually very laid back, and kind of happy with what they do. They are not agressive. Males are. Males ask for more comp. I think a good portion of comp diff could be because of this.

I read here and there internally and on blind, women getting downslotted to a lower level etc. The thing is, it happens with men too. Men are just more aggressive in asking.

The creaking wheel gets oiled. Amongst the immigrants, Chinese tends to get less compensated. I speculate that is because their culture is to be humble and non-assuming, your talent and hard work would soon be recognized and rewarded. Whereas Indians tend to be much better compensated than Chinese because of their aggression. Unfortunately, the American culture is to be aggressive and make your presence felt. Chinese needs to be more aggressive, manch is well aware of that, his photo show his past, his current look is more menacing and tough  No more humble goodie boy.

Thank you

I don’t see anything in the article remotely implying that women are getting less due to them being “laid back.” Sounds like women are just getting screwed (no pun intended) on that as well as pay.

I am not a kiss-up, but will say in my lifetime I have come across many, many women who were extremely intelligent. Frankly, most of my favorite bosses have been women.

Everyone is getting screwed by default. You have to ask. Why would a company pay more when they can pay less

Well, why can’t they simply offer X salary regardless if you are green, purple or orange?

What is x  why would i accept to be paid less if im a rockstar?

Inviting you to Haidilao is not a problem, but you’ll have to pay with your AAPL dividends :innocent:

I don’t like to compare my salary with others especially with my coworkers thus never paid attention to it. I accepted offer because i was satisfied. Why does it matter whether the guy next to me gets paid more or less than me. I am sure the difference wouldn’t be much especially after tax.
What i found as most critical was working in the fast growing company at the right time. This will bring you larger return than spending your energy on comparing your salary with your coworkers.

These studies should be taken with a grain of salt. Who are the people being surveyed? There are more women proportionally working in non-technical roles than technical, so it’s not uncommon for their equity to be less than their male coworkers.

It’s been proven in studies women are more likely to accept what’s offered vs. negotiate for more. I did the math on my comp. 75% of my comp increase since college is from negotiating up from initial offers.

If company goes into financial trouble, they might lay me of on the ground of higher comp. But they also want to keep the people around that knows ins and outs of the system.

On a good day, no, i work my ass off. Probably shouldnt.

So did you plant some obscure bugs deep in the system only you can fix?
