The Tesla hype is crazy. Toyota gross margin is 2% higher than Tesla. Tesla is below 17%. How is that a tech company? They are an industrial manufacturing company. They have low gross margins and require a ton of capital to scale production.

Ford is also releasing EV cars now.
I don’t get the logic of the mustang being the first. SUV would make way more sense. They have the profit margins to absorb the higher cost. I can’t imagine mustang fans getting excited about an EV.
No idea about ford models.
I have been waiting to buy ford, but stayed away as there was no clear announcement of EV. Now, they joined full fledged EV club which has bright future. With 6.7% dividend, I get in now as they planed set of EVs from 2020 onwards.
I own GM and F, both are dividend payers, but missed TSLA sudden burst.

The top model is 500 miles/charge and costs $80000 including all addons, but delivery 2022 !
The price and specs are good but that design is definitely not for most people.

Making bullet proof or hit proof is possible. IMO, Elon deliberately did that. He knows the glass will be broken. People needs to talk about that. News/Media will hype more when it is broken and wide publicity he was aiming with broken glass.
Negative publicity… maybe works, but does it work when it shows the product that you’re trying to sell in negative light? Not sure in this case… time will tell.
I think the steel is considered bulletproof to 9mm bullets not the glass.
Yes, broken glass worked as expected, but Elon unexpected is showing in stock price ! Second is look and feel, many do not like the look and feel, but performance like 500 miles/charge is too good.
If 500 miles/charge is coming to Model 3, I would prefer to buy Model 3 as we can easily use the car for 5+ years.
How does it help the Truck? In my view it does not. It was one of the most looked forward to event, it’s not that people were not aware of it & Tesla was begging for eyeballs for this event.
Negative publicity worked for Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian when they were a nobody, but then they showed that the product they were selling was actually great leading to more and more following. 
So it’s Oakland bullet proof but not Texas bulletproof.
