Tesla’s trillion dollar valuation is fast approaching

I see eco system green shoots. My neighbor commuted by an electric car about 120 miles roundtrip.

No. Opportunistic option traders. Is common to ride momentum for a huge gain with small outlay. Go in fast, have fun and get out fast. Fundamental is irrelevant, greatest fool theory yes.

Ok show us the light

Another thought. Before moving to Texas, Toyota America was headquartered in Los Angeles. The LA metro has over 500 miles of eight+ lanes of concrete. That is lot of freeway to say the least. No doubt, LA alone is a big market and center of innovation of for cars, and a right place to have a headquarter for a car company. So, if an electric car maker can just serve the LA or Houston/Dallas/SanAntonio market, that alone will be a huge jump.

The most active Tesla options by trading volume on Tuesday were for calls that could be exercised should Tesla’s share price hit $1,000 by Friday, according to options analytics platform Trade Alert. Those options jumped tenfold to $20 on Tuesday from just $1.98 the previous day.

Before that I read an article of some1 bet a fortune on $800 call - few days or weeks ago. I almost jump in too then change my mind, too much distractions, happy with my birds in my hand.

How easy to repair an EV? There are tons of repair and service businesses for petrol cars, cheap and reliable. How long for them to switch to EV?

An electric motor has fewer moving parts as compared to a diesel or gasoline engine. And electric cars do not come with a tranny (the transmission system with clutch and the gears and all that ). Fewer moving parts, less maintenance.

Actually, I see a lot of auto repair shops going away.

20 min Later: Electric cars use regenerative braking. So, I do not know if they have the brake shoes to wear out.

my 2 cents: TSLA has been in the market since 2010, before then 10 years research…almost 20 years to bring up.

Everyone was telling it would be bankrupt…etc, scared with high shorting etc.

Do not you think TSLA has been suppressed so far from actual value? It may go down , but that is temporary…eventually come back to value based on fundamentals and Efficient market level.

There are tons of sensors and a sophisticated app :scream: blue screen of terror. AFAIK, many current intelligent consumer appliances failed because of sensors, even higher failure rate than moving parts. Sure EVs are not like that?

@jil It’s fundamental wasn’t suppressed. Fundamentals have changed. If you have bought long ago, the price reflected the fundamentals then, something happened during May-Oct 2019 that alter the fundamentals. See the difference from your view? @wuqijun bought in hope of Elon Musk is capable of making great improvements in fundamentals sometime in the future, is a bet on Elon Musk, not of the fundamental then. This is the essence  of growth investing, IMHO. This is why I don’t believe in the use of DCF for growth investing, leadership and management can make great improvements in fundamentals that won’t be accounted for because is not here yet.

A gasoline car has no less sensors than electric car. Starting from thing like ABS, lane departure, fuel injection, camera, shifting etc. So, I do not expect electric care to have any more complicated electronics than a comparable gasoline car unless it also happens to be an autonomous car.

If you remember that I was telling market pricing the future of Tesla wrongly and I was telling things will change drastically after China factory is working.

Second, I was telling when TSLA comes to profit level, no one can buy as it will be uncatchable level.

Market or media was not properly seeing the TSLA at that time. Anyway, it is old story.

Many people did not believe the strength TSLA at that time.

Thousand apologies. Think I wasn’t following Tesla thread until the exploding stock price. Frankly, I did consider investing in Tesla in larger quantity when I heard about Tesla is to build a Giga there. But that was against Trump’s directive to move away from China! So I hesitated and forgot about it. Yes, that is a game changing fundamental.

I knew that too. Didn’t follow Tesla closely and hesitate to buy one more time when Jim Cramer said buy at $300. Guess deep inside I hope Elon will fail for Apple sake. Now, I have to wonder whether is too late for Apple, according Ming Chi, the Apple analyst, the Apple Car will be ready in 2023-25 which is way too late. Elon learned very fast and adapt very swiftly, now I understand why @wuqijun think highly of him.

The thing is they didn’t change. Revenue barely grew yr/yr. It’s like everyone is believing hype without looking at actual numbers.

Data says US sales are rapidly decelerating. California sales were down 50-60% vs prior year. China is needed just to make up for lost US sales. China isn’t helping the company grow revenue in a material way.

I looked up put spreads for Mar 20 yesterday and the cost was 9k. I chickened out.

There’s the big change in fundamentals. 2.2% revenue growth while cost of revenue increased 3.6% which led to lower gross margin. SG&A grew 4.7% which is faster than revenue.

What app?
