Many times WB sold AAPL stocks for different reasons. It depends on portfolio decision, tax or legal issues or some other reason which the decision maker knows. As an outsider, we will not know.
Same way, Elon musk selling all his real estate happened 6 month before. No one knew why he was doing until recently when declared moving to Texas.
If he holds any real estate in his name, California government continue to tax him on his billions and he would be forced to pay hefty tax or fine…
But the same thing will not happen to you as CA won’t bother, but will challenge billionaires!
We do not know the real reason on big portfolio small changes.
Read too deeply into what I have said. Assume what I have said and then pour out what you know? Is this a common SV trait? You didn’t tell me anything that I don’t know
She has answered in her interview. She said whenever things are going so well, there will be a correction. She wants to be prepared for it, to buy more at cheaper price. So she is selling some holdings (not just TSLA) she thinks that will likely decline more so as to buy even more at lower price.`
Her strategy is not new. Many experienced investors did something similar. Say you’re a TSLA investor holding 10,000 shares as core position, can trade around the core position. For example, trade 2000 shares now and then, making your holdings at any one time between 8000-12000. Can also use options, long calls if there is upward momentum and long puts if there is downward momentum. But never out of the TSLA shares - just trade around the core holdings.
She said it’s because no stock can have more than 10% makeup in her funds. That’s why it’s better to buy Tsla outright than buying any of her funds. You want more than 10% for sure.
So low? At one time, AAPL represented 99% of my NW. Since then, I have sold some AAPLs to buy two SFHs in CU, many SFHs in Austin, splurge on brand new cars and completely overhaul wardrobe with branded wears. Ofc, Apple MBPs/iPhones/watches, luxury vacations, etc.
Idea of investment is delayed satisfaction. What is the point of having so much net worth but don’t consume? Btw, how come you are so sure that I’m not already
No I’m saying people should have bought 90%+ in TSLA.
in 2019 when I finished going “all-in”, I went all-in on 2 things I thought had a very good chance of 10xing.
90% TSLA
10% Bitcoin
Much higher TSLA of course because of the risk was much lower. TSLA right now is like >95%, though I sold a little bit (2%) to start funding other investments (in IRA).
I do not want stay at such a higher %. Greedily, I would love for TSLA to reach $1000 this year. This puts me at a level where we could make 200K / yr off of investments even at a conservative rate of return.
At that point I would like to move 70-80% into higher growth ETFs like ARK. Then keep 20% or so for investing in individual stocks. If I could get > 10% yearly returns, I would be ecstatic.
TSLA valuation will be increasingly dependent on self-driving tech, which I only want to be in for speculation. I think there will be a long-tail of really realizing that technology into profit.
Tesla valuation might or might not be dependent on self driving. The future is unknown. Although I’m pretty confident that Tsla will outperform any ark fund in the future.
