Tesla’s trillion dollar valuation is fast approaching

“2/2 under ASC 350 Tesla will have to write down impairments, but can choose to sell (and thus recognize into net income), gains. If Bitcoin is down in a quarter, Musk can use his megaphone to pump it to help avoid an impairment, or pump it before a sale. Stupid and Genius.”

IMO, this is why Elon did this. On Dec 6, he posted on twitter, Bitcoin is as bs as fiat. Drove the price down. probably bought around then. now starts pumping Doge and Bitcoin last week? Shady, no? I love a good pump and dump, but it is beyond that. this is getting the balance sheet to show “gains” not related to the tesla business

Tesla is safer than those cars. If you care for your family’s safety, you should buy a Tesla. :stuck_out_tongue:

I disagree. I think it’s a smart currency hedge. More risky to not have any of your cash in crypto.

Tesla now has 7.5% of cash in BTC.

Ze has 7.5% of investments in BTC.

Coincidence??

I am not sure this relative small gains relative to market value is worth pumping bitcoin that undermine confidence in dollar.
who are big in bitcoin?.

I’m now a Bitcoin owner indirectly through Tsla and Sq. I think I own roughly 1 coin, considering my ownership stake in these companies.

Since when you bought SQ?

March COVID market bottom last year.

Please sell back SQ to me, I sold them. I use to own SQ.

Aapl should buy $50 billion in Bitcoin. That way we can both own more coins.

I don’t think bitcoin would be around after a few years. Instead we would have,

Digital greenback
Digital yuan
Digital Euro

Yes and no!

Yes, bitcoin is standard/system of cryptocurrency , like USD for world ! The originators intention to keep the limit.

No, when Bitcoin goes up and up, it will be very difficult to trade as number of Bitcoin is almost constant.

They need to have cents like denominator ( with same security) for easy trade!

Technology will soon evolve for that!

The world is governed by governments. Governments won’t allow other to rob them of the authority of management of currencies.

They already had challenge with Facebook for cryptocurrency. Now, world billionaires like Elon supports Bitcoin, it is a headache for Governments !

Unless governments enact law to ban such trading, it is not going to come to end. Now, it is pretty difficult to stop it.

Read the history of bitcoins…etc very interesting stories are there.

Bitcoin is popular precisely because it’s not controlled by any government. Nobody wants their life savings cancelled by some rando government clerk.

If this is a response to my comment, is dumb.

One see the car is dirty.
Hey, car needs to be cleaned.
No need, is already dirty.

Don’t fall into the trap of playing armchair macro analysts. You can sound smart but not make a single dime.

My RE portfolio has gone up 40% in the last four months
Despite this forum being hijacked by stock pickers and crypto gamblers. RE is about bread and butter investing. Ants vs grasshoppers. Stocks give me gas or worst . As far as Bitcoin, governments could ban it any day. And I hope they do. A complete fraud. People forget when the US banned gold ownership.

Thought that is the point, sound smart. Hmm… making money, plenty of way, yes, buy bitcoin is one way.

Not sure about that. Sure about everybody should have some RE investment (exclude Primary & vacation) for diversification, store of value and passive income.
