Gender? Implicit?
I’m pretty sure fertility is for women.
We no longer use virile for men. Fertile refers to both genders and sexes. Just like guys are used for both genders.
There are so many EV choices now. Either EVs will have to sky rocker in market share, or this is going to be an epic disaster as everyone fights over the same small percent of the market.
Start buying companies that makes 1000 ft power extension cords, not every EV buyer has dual garage and 2 ppl live in 1 house. My friend average parks about 1.5 blocks away from her home in sunset. they rented out downstairs 1 house has about 6 cars. If everyone gets a EV. they’ll need a lot of long long extension cable
That sounds perfect for the homeless people to steal power
Reality is it’s the opposite. Demand for BEVs has rapidly increased, way past supply (not # of models, but # of cars)
And polls are showing the rate of change of demand is increasing faster than the rate of change of supply.
So it’s everyone (people) fighting over the same small percent of the market (of BEVs available).
Unlikely because not enough battery and charging stations.
Exactly. Supply constraint, how to sky rocket.
How did cars replace horse carriages in 1900? There were no gas stations to begin with! Experts at that time predicted that it would take at least a 100 years before the replacement is complete…
Spoiler alert! It took less than 10 years…
Without going into too much details,
a. TSLA has been around for more than 10 years, still plenty of ICE cars running around.
b. Not comfortable comparing animals with machines. Too different.
c. ICE and oil industry is very entrenched.
ICE to EV (clean energy?)
Best analogy?
Desktop to notebook (superior mobility)?
Wired phone vs wireless phone (superior mobility)?
Broadcast TV vs streaming (on demand)?
Mail vs email (instant, cheap, fast)?
I recall reading that adoption will be swift only if innovation is 10x better, is EV 10x better than ICE?
-
automobile was invented in the 1880s, still plenty of horse carriages in early 1900s.
-
why do you compare gasoline with electricity? They’re too different.
-
horse carriages were very entrenched. They had been the main transport method for more than 2000 years!
Yes, EVs will be 10x better than ice and much cleaner too!
Not against tesla or any other EV car, I’ll buy one probably when things are mature maybe in another 10 years
- Cost of electricity to recharge, will know more in the next few years when number of EV increase big time, demand > supply probably gonna cost a lot more, will it cost even more than gas? who knows, it’s going to be wait and see. Go solar? will have to redo it to support at least 2 cars. and that is a lot
- Charging, many ppl doesn’t have garage , some house have 6+ cars, and even with garage, it’s full of junk. I want to see how charging station increase would meet the demand(like it can handle the line at costco gas station?), companies often offer a few charging station. but if everyone buying EV , would every company willing to build so much station?
- Repair after warranty expires , don’t tell me those BS electric car doesn’t need maintenance, very minimal third party mechanic that fixes these right now. and replacing battery cost pretty much salvage the vehicle.
- build quality better.
so much more to list. I just don’t think at this moment buying EV is worth over ICE especially WFH and minimal distance to take kids to school.
Prove that EV is 10x better than ICE. In what metric?
Efficiency comparable, price comparable, convenience comparable, speed comparable, safety comparable.
Automobile did bring 10x improvements in speed efficiency productivity cost per mile etc. over animals. EV over ICE not so much so it’s bull shit argument.
And btw cleaner is not a reason that it will take off. And EV is not much cleaner anyway. FWIW, horses were much cleaner than engines burning fuel.
My 2 cents
Even if WQJ TSLA net worth goes to 100M or Elon Musk touches 1 Trillion, people will be debating EV vs ICE !
Nowadays, it is fun to read many comments here, true I laugh at these comments !
Consistent?
BEV is very different from ICE? Sure? They are using the exact same roads and traffic rules. Can’t tell the difference between an ICE and BEV from exterior.
Not true.
“Will be” means “not yet”. So won’t be 10 years for transition.
I think still questioning the appeal/demand of BEV at this day and age is pretty unwise. Pretty much all EV firms are supply constrained. BEV doesn’t have to be 10x better than ICE. They just have to provide things that ICE don’t. iPhones are making your phone calls 10x better, but you can’t browse the web on a Nokia dumb phone. Just that unique advantage is enough.
The issue is he claimed that BEV would replace ICE car in 10 years. I dare say, 10 years from now, still plenty of ICE cars running around because as you also know, “supply constrained”.
New BEV sales will overtake new ICE sales in 10 years. That I think is a pretty plausible claim. It already happened in some countries like Norway. Will it happen in the US in 10 years? Yes, I think so.
Of course ICE cars last decades. So looking at the total stock of cars, there will still be tons more ICE cars than BEV.
